Dr. Phillip Louis Monroe, MD

He isn't very good. He's a follower. If you come to him from a different Doctor, he will not change things. He does not give answers. When I started gaining weight from the meds I was prescribed, he said ....it happens. He didn't change the meds. So.....becoming obese is acceptable to him? I decided it was time to find a Doctor who could/would help me. The nurse, who has been mentioned in other reviews, I never understood why he kept her so long. I wish I would have changed Doctors sooner.

treated me like I was intruding on his important time with my illness, and should be ashamed of myself for being sick in the first place.

The only real complaint i have is the COST!!! OMG, for that price they ought to hand out KY Jelly for free! And the medical assistant IS rather abrasive and not a people-person. She needs a different profession. AWAY from people. Dr. Monroe was very cordial to me and my husband and answered all (but one) of my questions, and listened pretty well. I was pleasantly surprised, since i was expecting a lot worse after reading his ratings in here! Maybe he read them and decided to be nice... ;-)

I moved to the area and needed a new physician to refill a prescription and get my annual blood draw for cholesterol. I was told they won't schedule a blood draw until after seeing the doctor. I made an appointment to establish new care and go over my general health. I was told to schedule the blood draw on my way out. I showed up for the blood draw and 30 minutes later after I asked what was taking so long they said I didn't have an appointment with the doctor. Well of course not, it's a blood draw. I don't need another appointment with him. They told me I was not allowed to request a blood draw without a doctors appointment and that my previous appointment didn't count. They wanted me to schedule another appointment with the doctor in order to schedule the blood draw at that time. That's insane. I'm a perfectly healthy woman who needs a cholesterol check once a year and I regret ever going into this office to get it done.

This is the worst Doctor I have ever seen, and I work in healthcare! He's my husbands' doctor, and he is terrible. Diagnosing is usually off, he won't even spend time with my husband, he just sends him off to someone else. The real problem with this office, however, is the assistant. Her personality is dull, sarcastic, and mean. She also doesn't know very much about her job, and tends to give the patients wrong information.

I was extremely disatisfied with my visit with Dr. Monroe. I arrived for my 8am appt, I waited over an hour. When he finally saw me, no appology or greeting...just "whats the matter with you" type attitude. I told him that i had salmonella and he told me "hope you dont have to go to the er" he said "be right back" I waited another 10 minutes and his nurse came in handed me a percription and left. He was very rude and had an uncaring attitude. I would not reccomend him to anyone.

I agree with the other review. He was GREAT when I went in with a bad case of poison ivy, but when I went in with some terrible menstrual pain he told me "sometimes women just have to live with that" and when I went in with chronic insomnia he said "that's just part of life sometimes." So... if you need a shot because poison ivy is on your face, he's your man. If you need help figuring out what's wrong, don't even waste your money. You will probably leave feeling worse about yourself and with no solution.

while Dr Monroe's staff is nice, this man is not. He does not like to answer any questions. Will get mad if you persist in asking and loves to prescribe antidepressant and narcotics without exploring other options for treatment. I had a bad staph infection but Dr Monroe's response to questions about what was wrong was " I don't know what it is, don't know what causes it and don't know how to prevent it." I got more answers from WebMD than from this man.
