Dr. Phillipa Louise Zylanoff, MD

Out of curiosity I read some reviews and am surprised by the number of negative reviews. I sought treatment six years ago for treatment resistant clinical depression. The cocktail of meds my former Dr prescribed was ineffective, to say the least. Dr. Zylanoff quickly diagnosed my specific type of depression, slowly weaned me off unnecessary meds, and started me on a different medication that improved my symptoms and quality of life. Within a few weeks I felt like the light was turned back on and my daily functioning was normal again. So, when reading these very negative reviews keep in mind that Dr.Zylanoff is direct and will sometimes tell you things you may not want to hear . She is not your traditional mental health professional. She practices in a rural area and I feel so fortunate to have found her, as mental health resources in my community are few and far between. I used to drive an hour to see my former doctors because I thought that their sophistication somehow made them “… better” at their craft. I was wrong . Dr. Zylanoff is an excellent diagnostician, knows her pharmacology, is unpretentious and is better qualified to treat mental health conditions than other providers I have seen.

Apparently her time is worth so much that if you're sick and throwing up and reschedule, she won't even see you and demand you go elsewhere. She is only there to get paid, not actually help people. I would suggest going elsewhere if you ever plan to not show up to an appointment, even if you're so sick you're throwing up the entire day.

Do not trust this "doctor". Severe Ethics violations regarding medications. Rude and does not listen to patients. AVOID!!!!

My son had been seen by several therapists and doctors and getting worse all the time. He was finally diagnosed and treated correctly. We have a new son!

This doctor has only one diagnosis, regardless of your illness. I was given antidepressants that I had previously taken but which had not worked. She abruptly took me off the meds that WERE working, abruptly stopped my antianxiety medication and did not replace it with another resulting in severe panic attacks and acute anxiety. I ultimately had a heart attack as a result of her "treatment". She is a drug addict and incompetent. She spent most of her time during our appointments reading her email.

This is the worst physician I've encountered in 35 years of nursing. She has one diagnosis, one set of drugs, and is as cold, sadistic and uncaring as Hitler. She took me off meds that were managing my anxiety and replaced it with a drug used for schizophrenia, not anxiety. When I told her they were not working, I was anxious, couldn't sleep, couldn't eat and cried all the time I was told it took time. 16 weeks of misery? Also, when I told her the attacks were worse and the meds were giving me killer headaches her response was that the headaches will go a way and and I was causing my own anxiety. After 4 months of misdiagnosis, inadequate medical management I left her office and went back to my original dr. who put me back on the anti anxiety drug that managed my panic attacks within a week.Stay away from this hack. I don't even think she is a psychiatrist. Besides poor treatment most of the time with her was spent watching her open and respond to her EMAIL. This woman is… dangerous and I wouldn't take and adult to her much less a vulnerable child.

She is totally unqualified to be practicing as a psychiatrist. She does not call people back, nor does she care how they are really feeling. She also has been sanctioned in several states for her own substance abuse issues.
