Dr. Pietro M Tonino, MD

I went in for an anthroscopy, and the cartilage deficit was large enough that Dr. Tonino performed a microfracture instead. I am not sure what was told to me in the recovery room, but I did not understand what had actually occurred until the follow up visit the following week. (My family could not understand why I was so debilitated after a scope.) Actually, of all the paperwork I received, none actually state that a microfracture procedure was ever performed, except for the photograph page of the procedure which shows the drill in my knee cap. Dr. Tonino is a nice man, but I cannot say he is a good communicator.

I would highly recommend this excellent doctor in every respect. He is a brilliant diagnostician and gifted surgeon. He and his staff treat a patient with courtesy and their attention to every detail from pre-op to the day of my surgery made this an anxiety free experience!

I had one visit with this doctor. He was perfunctory in the exam, didn't talk to me more than 5 minutes, told me that although I had some arthritis that it wasn't severe enough to warrant any surgery and should respond to PT. 10 weeks of expensive PT later, when I requested a second visit since my pain didn't seem to have changed significantly, I got a phone message (this without another actual appointment or exam) from the unit nurse that Dr. T now suggests that I need joint repacement and should see another Dr. Not helpful, confusing, a waste of my time and resources.

Very nice. Had surgery, everything went well. Will be having a second surgery soon.

My son was injured during a football game and he dislocated his arm. I was very concern when his doctor told me that he needed surgery. He referred us to Dr. Tonini and the few seconds that I spent talking to him and him interacting with my son, I was comfortable. He was pleasent and quite funny. I felt so comfortable leaving my son in his care. He has children and he even spoke of them and I saw the warmth and caring father along with his profession as a doctor. The staff was very pleasent, especially (SUE) and very patient. The day I took him back to see his nurse Sue to remove bandages, I was in so much of my own pain. They took us in right away, took care of my son, so that I could take care of my own pain. I thank God for them because this has been a trying time for me. Many days I wanted to break down, so tired and scared. Dr. Tonino and his team was the best. I think its because of them that I survived this journey.
