Dr. Polly Ellison Ross

I found Dr. Ross to be a very knowledgeable physician and I placed my trust in her. I was a very scared patient, initially. She knew I was nervous. From my first visit I felt her to be standoffish, to the point of becoming more and more unattached as my visits continued. That alone made my regular appointments with her uncomfortable.

My family went to DR Ross when we were children and she was always very kind, years later when my uncle became ill and was dying her and Kris would go out of their way to come to his home to check on him and help us. I have no doubt concern and consideration and caring for her patients.

Unfortunately my interaction with Dr. Ross was not positive. I attended several appointments with my ill mother, and tried to patiently observe the visits. Each time, I could tell my mother was confused and didn't understand Dr. Ross' recommendations. During the final two visits, I attempted to ask clarifying questions and both times I was rudely brushed off. She gave me the impression that I had no business questioning her, and that she didn't have time for my interference. From reading the reviews, I don't believe she is this way with all her patients, but we gave her several chances, and the interaction with us was consistent. She seems to think very highly of her knowledge and skill, and I guess she would rather not be challenged. We moved on, and my mother is very happy with her new physician.

I don't know of a finer, more knowlegable Doctor. Kind, compassionate, caring, patient, attentive, great sense of urgency, supportive and always greeted with that wonderful, friendly smile. AAA+++

Like her predisessor Elizabeth Blackwell Dr Ross has been a trailblazzer in North Carolina in the research of HIV. To me she is a significant person especially in the feminist movement.
