Dr. Rachael Hollifield

The clinician did not even bother to introduce herself, and started off by asking me (a new patient) about how I was doing with a condition I did not even have. She did not apologize, nor interview me in the usual way. She kept making assumptions about my life, condition, etc, which just were not true. When I asked her why she did so, she said she was "asking me" about things, but in reality, she was not. In addition to confusing my chart with someone else's, she gave me a prescription that I really needed, but changed it (a medication I have taken for 20 years) to a generic without even telling me. I had already filled it, gone home, etc, then realized what she had done. She did not really "take in" any concerns, or seem to understand. It was scary and I'm glad I wasn't really sick. I was trying to possibly establish care with her since she was close by. I will now pay out of pocket (since it won't be covered now) to go to another doctor. A doctor who cannot even… get the patients straight and changes long-term medications without even discussing what she's doing, is not someone who people should go to. People like that in medicine can do serious damage. I'm unsure if she was just young, in other words arrogant in a way that could change over time if she had more life experience, or whether she was just of narcissistic character (and will never change). Either way, the superficial niceness might cover for things like confusing the charts, or not listening to clients, but I'm afraid someone will get hurt. I never write reviews like this. I just felt obligated. I saw, in her, exactly what the other reviewer did. And while medicine is not rocket science, health care workers can be the kiss of death when they cannot even pay attention to minor details about people's health. Also, I had out-of-range labs that I know most doctors would see as borderline out-of-range, and it was clear she could not care less.

This doctor talked to me with some assumption that I was uneducated or simple minded. She was insensitive about my concerns over my medication causing muscle aches and tried to tell me that what I was experiencing was not happening. Talking in simple terms to a patient without asking them first is clearly acting on an assumption. I will gladly drive and wait in traffic to go to Norfolk than go through these new doctors at this clinic!
