Dr. Rachel Judith Ackerman, MD

I was disappointed with my experience at this appointment. I felt that the doctor was not interested in listening to my concerns. Throughout the visit, her facial expressions and body language made me feel as though my questions and explanations were not important, which made the interaction uncomfortable. I came to the appointment looking for answers, guidance, and a treatment plan. Instead, I felt dismissed. I wasn't given much explanation about my condition or meaningful discussion of possible treatment options. Rather than feeling like my concerns were being taken seriously, I left feeling that the appointment was rushed and unproductive. While I don't always know the correct medical terminology, that's precisely why I seek medical care. Patients shouldn't be expected to have medical expertise before seeing a physician. A doctor's role is to listen, ask questions, explain things clearly, and help patients understand their condition. At one point, I even found myself pointing out… that another medical professional I had seen previously had been correct in their assessment and recommendations. I shouldn't have felt like I needed to advocate for basic explanations or validate information I had already received elsewhere. Good bedside manner is just as important as medical knowledge. Unfortunately, I left this appointment feeling unheard, unsupported, and without the guidance I was hoping to receive. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this doctor to others. I hope this feedback encourages a more respectful, attentive, and compassionate approach to patient care.

Dr. Ackerman is a great doctor! She really listens and cares about your issues. I'm so happy she has come to Kauai and highly recommend her.

My husband and I have Dr. Ackerman as our PCP and very pleased with her thorough and comprehensive attention. Time was spent in conversation regarding past medical history while her front office made appointments for me to bring my health exams up to date. Rachel, back office nurse, very welcoming and professional.
