Dr. Rachel Sharon Edlin Selekman, MD

Dr. Selekman performed a meatotomy on my 7 year old today and was totally personable, professional, and friendly. I can't relate to the other reviews commenting on her bedside manner, that wasn't may experience at all. She went above and beyond to ensure that both my son and I felt at ease before the procedure, reassured me after the procedure and spent time with me to make sure I understood the aftercare. As an aside, the initial urology appointment with a different physician was quite rushed. Perhaps its the nature of appointment scheduling vice the performance of the physician that created an environment where patients felt like their care was less than ideal. The bottom line is... I wouldn't think twice about trusting Dr. Selekman to care for your child.

I had an appointment with Dr. Selekman and, unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. She lacks a personable approach and does not exhibit good bedside manner. The appointment felt rushed, and I did not get the sense that she was truly engaged or interested in my concerns. Rather than feeling heard or valued as a patient, the interaction came across as transactional. A good physician should take the time to connect with their patients, ensure their questions are answered, and provide reassurance when needed. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I would not recommend Dr. Selekman for those looking for a doctor who is thorough, compassionate, and attentive.

We have had nothing but exceptional experiences with Dr. Selekman. At our appointments thus far she has been incredibly kind and attentive, making us and our infant feel at ease. She has answered all of our many questions thoroughly and patiently, ensuring we fully understood everything. Her bedside manner is impeccable—compassionate and truly reassuring. We are grateful for the excellent care she has provided to us thus far and highly recommend her to anyone in need of a pediatric urologist.

I had nothing, but a great experience with Dr. Selekman. She answered all of my questions and told me what not to worry about. Her confidence made me feel comfortable that my son was in good hands. The procedure couldn't have gone any better. (I don't normally write reviews, but felt compelled to when I read the other reviews. They made me feel nervous and I wished they hadn't, because we had a great experience.)

We had a televisit with Dr. Selekman regarding a concern from our pediatrician and it was the worst experience. From the onset of the conversation she had an attitude and was not very responsive to our concerns. Since the call with her was scheduled (months in advance) during our child’s nap time we didn’t even have her on camera, while Dr. Selekman continued “evaluating” her and attempting to prescribe antibiotics for 2 years… she also tried to assure us that her evaluation on this televisit wouldn’t differ from her evaluation during a normal office visit with our daughter present, which makes no sense and is very disheartening.

Unless you are made out of stone, this doctor is the worst I ever experience in my life. She has the bedside manners of an orangutan and is very condescending. She forgets she is talking to patients that struggle with medical conditions and she is as crude as they come. They should have a "how to treat your patients" class in med school or if they do....she didn't take it.
