Dr. Raffaello Addiego, MD

I am a retired nurse and just had something happen right now to my eye , and so I called Dr. Ernest's office in Jackson who did my Cataract Surgery and did a wonderful job . But post op I had to see that Dr. Addiego and he had me coming into his office 4 or 5 times to see if I had a Retinal tear , And He used a wooden Q-tip and it hurt so bad when he would check my eyes at every visit with that Wooden Q-tip. I had to make him stop it hurt so bad, several times a visit. He would say , "I have to push on your eyeball , so I can see the back of your eye where the retina is ..." I began to talk to several of My friends and eye doctors offices , to ask them if that was normal to use a Wooden Q-tip to examine the Retina's ? We agreed that " no way , it could break and stick your eye with it ". I asked a office nurse in another Retinal eye doctors office if they make a special cushioned instrument to push the eyeball out so they can see the back of the eye.? And she said yes this doctor… has one ...So I went to see another doctor. And it didn't hurt at all ! My RN friend said too that they they looked at her Retinal at the Jackson Eye Clinic and she said it didn't hurt and she sure didn't have to keep going back for weeks and months either.....She thought that too was excessive visits ......Also, when Dr. Addiego speaks to you , he shuts his eyes completely shut and squints as he talks to you Which I found odd , for a eye doctor not wanting to look you in the eyes when he talks ....... So today I called their office and they said I had been totally dismissed from their office......for me complaining about Dr. Addiego! So we will see if Medicare/CMS thinks about this........I just want to warn anyone who goes to that office in Lansing how the manager and Dr.Addiego are . You can't make them change they just "dismiss you". I had no complaint about Dr. Ernest who did my surgery just that retina doctor Addiego. FYI you don't have to hurt when they look at your Retina ....I went to a Retinal specialists and he didn't use a wooden Qtip and he didn't hurt me like Dr.Addiego did and I think he could have been causing damage to my eye with the implant being pressed so hard and could have cause my vitreous to break open giving himself some profit $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Extremely professional. I have all confidence in his care for my serious eye conditoon. Regarding the waiting - I've never been in an opthomalogist's office for less than an hour + in the past 25 yeats. To me it's all a part of it.

I hAve a rare eye disease. He makes me feel safe and secure in their care. Very busy doctor, but worth the wait. His goal is to save my vision. Empathetic. Only downside is how uncomfortable some things are that I regularly need, but injections and lasers are saving my eyesight.
