Dr. Raffy Leon Karamanoukian, MD

I went to this doctor when he was on 20th street and removing varicose veins. I called and spoke to his receptionist first to make sure he could remove large varicose veins and I was assured he could. I was charged $100 only to be told he removed small veins only. What a complete rip off

This review is targeted towards people suffering from Keloids and who might be considering going to Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian - I'd highly urge you NOT to make the same mistake I made and go to him seeking keloid treatment. Read all of his keloid patient reviews and you'll notice a trend of unsatisfied people. Dr Karamanoukian goes on websites such as "RealSelf" answering questions related to Keloids all in a bid to get more unsuspecting customers into his practice, overpromises on what he can do, and then gets defensive when questioned. I've never met a doctor who was so uncomfortable and incapable of having a simple conversation with a patient without throwing a tantrum like a grade schooler. Take my advice and stay away! After all of my interactions with Dr Karamanoukian I can say with the upmost certainly he is one of the most unprofessional egotistical self-centered doctors the LA area has to offer. He focuses on money first, patient well-being & understanding last. I can't speak… to his plastic surgery work, but as far as potential keloid patients, be wary. Read more reviews below and you'll notice most of his negative reviews are from people being treated from keloids. I don't believe he's actually cured anyone from earlobe keloids. I'll admit they're stubborn and hard to treat, but my biggest gripe with Dr Karamanoukian is his brazen ability to overpromise and under deliver as well as his "selective amnesia" to the statements coming out of his mouth. Notice he has no before / after photos of the keloid patients he's treated. He played a good game of bait & switch and blew up on me when it came to me questioning him about delivering on the false promises he had made during my initial consultation. after reading the other reviews, I'm certain he does this with everyone. After a lot of miscommunication from both his staff and himself - I insisted on getting on the same page by voicing all of my concerns and questions I had with his treatments. Everytime I asked a question Dr. Raffy would get defensive and extremely unprofessional. After he realized I wasn't going to just be ignorant to my treatment plan and endlessly pay hundreds of dollars for injections he flat-out told me my keloids would never be cured and he couldn't help me, of course after I paid him hundreds - he also said he was terminating any further treatment. Some other horrible things I encountered with him: - Lied about overall pricing, something I had to go back and forth with his billing staff and himself. If he quotes / tells you a price - take it with a grain of salt. that number WILL change once he starts treatment. one of my injections consisted of kenalog + 5FU and I was charged a price for it, on my very next appointment I was told if i wanted the same injection it would be double of what I was previously charged, when questioned about this Raffy kept dodging and never explained this discrepancy. - Over the phone I was told that the initial consultation fee gets applied to any future procedures. Upon getting to the office the receptionist hands me a patient agreement that contradicts this stating that the "initial consultation fee would not be applied to any future treatment" - after I pointed it out, the receptionist quickly acknowledged the error, telling me I had a "good eye" - she then proceeds to hand me over a new contract with the line changed to how I was originally told over the phone - "the initial consultation fee WILL be applied to any future treatment" - something I thought was weird, but brushed it off as a mistake on their end at the time. After my experience I'm questioning if it was truly a mistake. Most likely it's something they try to pull on everybody suspecting they won't notice the contract wording change. - Upon terminating services with him he tried to get me to sign a "contract" where he'd give me my money back as long as I wouldn't post a review about my experience. Upon questioning that clause in the contract with one of the nurses, Dr Karamanoukian stormed into the lobby and ripped up the contract in front of everybody - who acts like this? I wouldn't trust Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian doing anything on me, and I don't believe you should either. He flat out told me 5FU does not work in treating keloids, yet this was one of the medicines he used while treating me - i'll let you do your own research in regards to that. - Before I even started treatment he asks "Who's the best keloid doctor in Los Angeles ?" in a way a mother would ask her young child. The question came across as lame and weird - I had yet to even receive treatment so I was confused as to why he would even think to ask such a bizarre question. I replied "That is to be seen...". - My initial consultation fee was never fully applied to all my treatments, something Im still fighting with them to this day - Raffy said since I didn't sign the contract im not getting it... this office is shady

Being in the pharmaceutical industry in a scientific capacity, I am quite a selective person by nature. I thoroughly researched plastic surgeons throughout the ENTIRE United States, and ended up choosing Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian at Kare Plastic Surgery. The name Dr. Kare is a true reflection of Dr. Karamanoukian and his entire staff. From my phone call with Melissa in calling to schedule a consultation, to my actual consult at Kare Plastic Surgery, to the surgery itself, and finally to the post-operative care, the entire team is unparalleled in both their quality and compassion. Dr. Karamanoukian paid such great attention to each and every detail, and I appreciated his attention to each and every little nuanced thing. Even how and where he placed my incision and the amount of tension with which to give the skin along it's natural tension line was followed to maximize healing and minimize scarring. I am very observant and critical, and was pleased with literally EVERYTHING...which is… actually a rarity for me! He even follows all the standards of practice of AAAHC (look this up if interested), which was important to me to know that he adheres to the highest safety standards. Dr. Karamanoukian is also a very humble and down to earth guy (and he has a great sense of humor...who wants a boring surgeon after all), which made me love him even more! He took time to answer my million and one questions and put up with my annoying nature to research and ask a million things. In addition, he accommodated us at the last minute, as we were from out of town; we flew in from Tennessee to have my procedure done. To top it all off, my incision is healing amazingly and is already beginning to nicely blend in with my skin. And although I was okay with a larger incision, Dr. Karamanoukian was not. His standards for my outcome were higher than my own standards for myself, which says a lot. He takes pride in his work and all while remaining so humble and so kind. Seriously, if you see anyone else, then you are insane! My husband was beyond impressed too! Dr. Karamanoukian truly goes above and beyond. When I have any future procedures done, I won't trust anyone else but him!

I have seen Dr K several times and he is the kindest and most talented dr I have ever known.

If you meet Dr.Raffy, you will be amazed. The best surgeon that you will ever come across. Excellent manners. Very approachable and friendly. He is the extremely good at what he does. I highly recommend him.

Dr Raffy karamanoukian, is one of the finest plastic surgeons in the Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica area. He is more skilled than most and understands the aesthetics that are involved! He is a master at botox, Juvederm and others, so that no one can tell you have it. His aftercare is superb. Dr k is just the best all around him and his amazing staff.

Dr. Raffy will be treating me for my very old keloid scar on chest area. For years I have been told its to old to treat. He has given me hope and inspired me to treat it and not give up. He is very knowledgeable and humanistic. Don't give up, until you have met with Him.

hi there! i recommended you to go to DR. RAFFY KARAMANOUKIAN clinic's for the keloids treatment. YES, I am so SERIOUS that he will help you.... before i went to Dr. Raffy, I've went to 4 clinics already and nothing change with the keloids. then, i've decided to go to Dr. Raffy... and i found my HOPE. I went to this clinic for keloids removal procedures.. I met a very good, nice, great, awesome doc which were Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian, the assistant Kelly and Maralyn. thank you so much for treated me very well and nicely. I have like a 9-10 keloids on my back and when the first time of appointment, he suggested to proceed with the minor surgery, laser and injections. And i need to give him 3 months roughly treatment for the keloids. he explained clearly the procedures and cost on the first appointment and you r free to asked any questions.. Then i proceed with surgery and i need to come back 3 times a week for the treatments. the surgery was on May 2014..and I need to go for… 3 months treatment... Well, the doc was great..what can i say, after the treatment the keloids are totally removed and my skin was flatter.. thank you...!!=)=)=) then, i just need to maintain it by taking injections and laser.=) After that, I need continue with 3 times a week appointment for injections and laser. Basically, the injections r to ensure keloids flatter while the laser r to ensure the color of skin become better. In meantime of progress, he suggested the dark cream and keloids scar cream.. after 3 months of repeating the same thing until i need to go back to my country, Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian was a very nice, he gave me the injections set for me to take 1x a week at the clinic in my country.... thank you so much. I'm so touched that he still concern and responsible on my treatment. he was so nice and awesome, he's funny and treat patient nicely. thank you!!! Now, you guys know that the keloids r flatter, removed and its actually giving me the new HOPE, CONFIDENT, LIFE, UNLIMITED HAPPINESS... I don't have to hide again and feel so embarrassing... thank you so much for everything. awesome DR. RAFFY....

I think he's an amazing Dr. patient , very caring . Talks u through everything . Explains clearly what he can do , and what can not be done. He knows what he's doing.

I went to him for scar treatment, and he recommended some laser treatments that unfortunately did not work. I wasn't mad about that, but I went to his office for a follow-up appointment to see what else could be done for my scars, if anything. As soon as I said that the lasers had not worked, the doctor took a very angry and arrogant tone with me and began yelling at me. I felt so bullied that I started to get angry back, and he told me to get out. I was shocked.
