Dr. Raihanahmed Chowdhury, MD

With over seventeen years as an experienced anesthesiologist, Dr. Raihan Chowdhury proudly specializes in adult and pediatric cardio-thoracic anesthesia, vascular anesthesia, neuro anesthesia, critical care, and trans-esophageal echocardiography.

Dr. Chowdhury completed his residency in Anesthesiology program at the State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse in 1997, and his Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology from world renowned Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio in 1998. After completion of his postgraduate training and fellowship, he began his practice as Associate in Cardiac Anesthesiology at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, eventually returning to New York in 2001 to become the Associate Attending Cardiac Anesthesiologist at the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn.

In 2010, Raihan Chowdhury founded the Institute of Healthcare Development (IHD) with an ambition to enhance the standards of healthcare abroad through advanced …healthcare education and hands-on-training for medical providers. As an International Training Center Coordinator for American Heart Association (AMA), Dr. Chowdhury has personally organized, lead and trained hundreds of physicians, nurses, and first responders on Emergency Cardiac Care.

While providing training oversees, Dr. Chowdhury also served as Attending Anesthesiologist and Head of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology and the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at the internationally accredited Apollo Hospitals Dhaka and United Hospital Limited in Bangladesh.

Currently, Dr. Chowdhury lives in Great Falls, Virginia where he works as an independent practitioner.
