Dr. Raj Jitendra Gala, MD

Very useless visit and l will not return. Dr. Gala showed no interest in my pain and gave no advice for dealing with it. Downright rude. His office staff was insulting and haughty.

Wonderful experience with Connecticut neck and back specialists, from the first visit with Dr. Gala, I felt heard and at ease, Dr. Gala answered all my questions. He was a wonderful surgeon, keeping me informed every step of the way. The staff was always helpful and kind. They ensured I had a smooth prep, surgery, and follow-up. I am so glad I chose Dr. Gala and would highly recommend to anyone.

My appointment consisted of being shamed about my weight---in several ways--- and my looking at a blank face as I explained how I felt and asked questions. It was as if he couldn't have cared less about the patient in front of him. I felt judged and it was a very unpleasant experience overall.

Was referred to Dr. Gala due to my doctor being overbooked by the awful Nuvance system of care. He was not responsive to my questions and I felt very uncomfortable with him despite how pleasant I was told he was. I left with no answers but a prescription for physical therapy. I think doctors sometimes forget the effort patients are putting into just getting there, the amount of paperwork they fill out and the pain that got them there. Maybe an "off" day but this was not the treatment or attitude I was expecting. Front desk literally ignored patients waiting outside in their cars. We were talking amongst ourselves out there because we were calling them, could see them through the window and they were simply ignoring our calls. Try thinking of what it is like to be the patient experiencing this type of dismissal and treatment. We are already anxious and in paying and paying a lot of money to see you.

I don’t write reviews but will make an exception in this case. I’ve consulted Orthopedic surgeons and other health care providers here and abroad. Kudos for Dr. Gala for honing in on listening skills. He looked at me while he talked – a trait missing in many a professional in the medical field. He didn’t interrupt silences between sentences so I didn’t feel rushed and showed empathy by validating my concerns. He had a picture of my MRI so I could better understand what caused my pain. He also addressed concerns without me spelling them out and I left his office without any doubt of his knowledge or skills. Above all he showed respect by giving me the ultimate role in determining what he wanted to provide.

Dr. Gala sees not only my injuries as it relates to his practice but me as an individual. it’s about the total health experience with Dr. Gala and I never feel like a number when I visit. I’m very fortunate to be working with Dr. Gala and his staff.
