Dr. Rao attended Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College and did his medical training at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India. Upon completion of medical school in India, he became a Diplomate in Child Health and did postgraduate work in pediatrics at Sion Medical College Hospital and infectious disease at Kasturba Hospital in Bombay, India.
