Dr. Rajeev Garapati, MD

I fractured my left acetabulum (hip socket) when I fell very hard after slipping on ice. Dr. Garapati was highly recommended to me by a friend of our daughter's who is an MD rehabilitation specialist in a teaching suburban hospital. This doctor, whose own patients were treated by Dr. Garapati, said that not only is he a skilled surgeon but he cares about his patients. Dr. Garapati viewed the x-rays of my injury and decided not to operate but to let the fracture heal naturally. That impressed me greatly because he could have received a handsome fee had he decided on surgery. The fracture, thank G-d, healed nicely.

He was amazing. After going to Dr. Alan League in the same office and receiving no help whatsoever, I made an appointment with Dr. Garapati. Within the first 5 minutes he asked me if Dr. League had tried a cortisone injection to determine if I was dealing with ankle joint dysfunction, I let him know that he had not ever suggested that within the multiple months I had seen him. He asked if I would be open to trying it that day and if it worked, even for a few days to rid me of my severe pain, that it would indicate an issue that required surgery. Cortisone injection ended up working for a week or two and I got back in contact with his office to let him know. He promptly got back to me and set up my ankle surgery. At every point of our contact, I believed he was actually looking out for me and wanted to make me feel better. It was refreshing because I had gone to 8 different doctors each with a different opinion of what had been wrong, well he’s the one that actually cracked the code and… solved it. Since the surgery I have only received one more cortisone injection for ongoing, residual pain that still resides in the joint, but he was the doctor that figured out that there was AN INFECTION in the ankle joint tissue and said I was very lucky that they found it before anything more serious had to be done! About a few years after I went back to him because I had been in a bad car accident which fractured my clavicle and was informed by Lutheran General’s ER department to go see an orthopedic. Well they referred me to one guy in Park Ridge on Northwest highway, well that guy disputed what the ER had told me and said there was no fracture indicated on the X-ray and that the line on the X-ray was the machine picking up a blood vessel that ran atop the clavicle. I didn’t buy it, so once again I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Garapati, who after looking at the X-ray image, determined there was in fact an evident split in the bone, but luckily it was not all the way through. Promptly got me into a sling to rest the bone, and really wanted to help take care of the issue again. Very very prompt with solving issues once they are detected. He’s a wonderful doctor in a world of doctors that won’t listen!

Dr. Garapati as a trauma surgeon, had to make the best of a bad situation-the displacement of my foot in a car accident. I think foot/ankle surgery is difficult-the foot/ankle area is intricate. Perhaps I will never be 100%, with metal inserted in my ankle , but I always felt confident in him and in his staff, and I appreciated his handshake at the beginning of each visit. With surgery and aggressive physical therapy, I believe that my ability to walk (and jog a little bit) is a small miracle. With gratitude long overdue to Dr. Garapati, his assisting surgeons, Emilie Allen, PA, and Laila Singho.

When I had broken my leg, Dr. Garapati had done a great job in performing the surgery to put my leg back together. I was down to one crotch after two months, and off the crotches completely in less than 3 months!

Dr. Garapati met with my family and I, explained the problem, procedure and expected recuperation fully and in terms easily understood. The procedure went well, as did the recovery. No question that he will be our first choice should similar circumstances arise.

Dr Garapati did an amazing job ... with a series of xrays we were able to see the plate the Doctor put in and the healing that occured in successive weeks. It's been over a year, and Mom's had no recurring discomfort let alone pain on the site or with her arm, which she uses as if she had never fallen on it. Thank you Dr Garapati, you are a most excellent doctor and surgeon!

After a non-healing fracture of my upper right arm, I was referred to Dr. Garapati for surgical repair. He was clear and complete in is explanation of the situation and best options for me. After placing a plate in my arm and substantial rehab, I have full use of my arm, good range of motion, minimal pain and the fairly long scar is barely noticeable! I am very pleased with Dr Garapati's work and especially his approach to patients. Oh, and so glad to have my domnant arm back!

I went to Emergency room and had my leg operated on by Dr. Garapati . I didn't meet him till the next day, Her was very nice. In all my appointment after he always explained everything and answered all my Questions. I would Highly recimend him.

I went to see Dr. Garapati for a second opinion when another doctor wanted to remove my leg. Dr. Garapati performed surgery on my leg to repair 13 breaks in my leg in a very small area and today I am walking on my leg and not using a prosthetic. I am so very grateful to Dr. Garapati and couldn't be happier with the outcome of this horrible accident that I had. I didn't think that walking agin would ever be possible and thanks to Dr. Garapati, I am walking again. Thank you so so much Dr. Garapati, you saved my life.

I, Fatima Sjoby had to have foot and ankle surgery and had went to a doctor at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago. The doctor was cold hearted like a block of ice so i started asking friends and co-workers for a good doctor. The name everyone was giving me was Dr. Rajeev Garapati, so i made an appointment with him that changed my life for the better regarding surgery. He was so kind, very informative to every question i had, extremely patient, made sure he covered all the bases, constantly checking on me (which was great because i live alone and have no-one to help me. My healing process was long but Dr. Rajeev Garapati always made sure i was comfortable, and equipped with all the staff that i need and all the equipment that i needed (wheelchair, walker, cane, hand reacher, bedside commode, etc.). I 100% recommend him to anyone who asks me for a fantastic doctor. I have complete trust and faith in him and will never go to anyone else, he is the best.
