Dr. Rakhshi Khan, MD

I have been on the same chronic pain treatment plan for over 8 years with success and full compliance. During that entire time, I never violated my medication agreement, always completed required appointments and testing, and maintained a stable treatment history. When my longtime physician retired after more than 20 years of care, I was assigned to Dr. Rakhshi Khan. I had seen the reviews beforehand and was nervous, but I believe in forming my own opinions. My previous Kaiser-assigned physician turned into one of the most trusted healthcare relationships I’ve ever had, so I went into this transition hopeful and open-minded. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. From the beginning, my established treatment plan seemed to be dismissed, and I was made to feel as though I had done something wrong simply for being on long-term chronic pain management. Rather than taking time to understand my medical history or how I arrived at this treatment plan, I felt judged almost… immediately. There was also a moment where I was told Kaiser had been trying to contact me to establish care, which honestly confused me because I am very responsive to Kaiser calls and messages. It may have been a misunderstanding, but combined with the overall tone of the appointment, it added to the discomfort. What stood out most was the communication style. While she remained outwardly polite, the tone felt condescending at times, and I left the appointment feeling confused, anxious, and worried about the continuity of my care. To her credit, she did provide short-term assistance with my medication while I worked to find another physician willing to continue managing my established treatment plan. Based on my experience, I would caution patients with complex medical histories or chronic conditions to carefully consider whether this provider is the right fit for them. Patients who need collaborative communication, continuity of care, and a physician willing to fully listen to long-term treatment history may find the experience frustrating.

She simply does not listen nor cares about her patients. She is completely incompetent as a primary care doctor and refuses to refer to specialists when she is CLEARLY out of her league with this medical condition. I feel like I'm being held hostage! I never picked, her she was assigned to me after my doc retired. Don't let that happen to you. Run away, immediately don't be stupid like me and try to work with her for weeks as she is clearly indifferent to her patient's needs or feelings. KAISER PLEASE FIRE THIS HORRIBLE DOC. I can see that I'm not the only one to have bad experiences.

Dr. Khan was assigned as my primary after my previous GP retired. In the few interactions I had with her, I always was made to feel stupid. The first time I met her was for a bruise on my wrist after an accident and when I answered as to why I was concerned about it, she just kind of stared at me for a couple of seconds. Weird, but okay, sure, maybe I was being overly cautious. Went home and that was that. The second time was for a physical exam my therapist recommended so I could start the process of getting medication for my mental health. Again, when I answered why I was there, she looked at me funny and said she’d never prescribed the medication. It just got awkward after that, and I was extremely stressed for the rest of the visit. I never ended up getting the medication because my therapist left Kaiser around the same time and I couldn’t stomach going back to Dr. Khan. The last time I spoke to her was through email. I was struggling in my day-to-day because of the untreated… mental condition, and I sent her a three paragraph email essentially begging for help because I didn’t know what to do anymore. She sent back two sentences just telling me to call Kaiser Psychiatric, which I had been referred out of for half a year. At that point, I was just done. Maybe she’s a great doctor when it comes to physical health, but it doesn’t seem like she takes mental and emotional health seriously. As someone with low self-esteem already, just those moments of open judgement from her were enough to really upset me. I have been with Kaiser since literally the day I was born, and I have never had a doctor do that before. So, yeah, not a fan. I switched to a different doctor and she has been lovely. Never going back to Dr. Khan again.

I have a number of rare genetic medical conditions that require monitoring. This doctor made no attemp to familiarize herself with any of these conditions, which led to her not understanding the necessity of particular medical test. She was basically uneducated regarding these conditions, made no attempt to increase her knowledge which led to her being argumentative and unsupportive. A most difficult situation for the patient and definitely not worth the money kaiser received for appointments which on average was $375.
