Dr. Ralph Spencer Stoetzel, MD

I've been seeing Dr. Stoetzel for several years now for hyalgan injections in my knee. He's been a great Dr. He is very knowledgeable, and understanding of me not wanting knee replacement surgery just yet.

I’m through my second visit with him, he’s very professional and understandable so far in caring for my lower back pain. I am slowly recovering with prn muscle relaxants and therapy.

He is kind understanding and cares. He is highly intelligent with the spine and helped me with my pain!

X-rays at every visit

Dr. Stoetzel has seen me through three progressive lumbar spinal fusions over the past 3.5 years as we agreed to try to be conservative. I have improved with each surgery but with the last one I am now able to stand erect and walk without pain. He's a great mechanic and shares the decision-making with the patient. I have the utmost confidence in Dr. Stoetzel; he and his staff have always been patient, helpful and caring.

I had a growth behind my knee and wanted it removed. Dr. Stoetzel said he would do the surgery as long as I was entubated. I didn't want that and we talked about why he wanted it. He added, "You will have a big ugly scar," Consultation over. He rolled hastily on his stool towards the door, spun round, left! We didn't click! I found great plastic surgeon who loves what he does. He numbed the area, made a long incision, removed the giant fatty lipoma, and did a few layers of stitches. The result? A beautiful fading line even though it's only been 3 months...so much for the predicted big, ugly scar. It was clear that Dr. Stoetzel is like all of us, he pushes away those he doesn't want to deal with. When it comes to surgery, keep shopping til you find someone who 1) loves what they do, and 2) has a proven record in the procedure you need, and 3) wants to collaborate with your healing.

The outcome of my knee scope far exceeded my expectations . I have had no pain since procedure was done. Dr Stoetzel explained what he was going to do and then after what he had found and what I should expect. I have other issues going on as well with my lower back and he will address them as we proceed.

Dr. Stoetzel did my cervical spine surgery and my spinal fussion I would not trade him for the world, he is that good. I recommend him to everyone. It has been five years since my surgeries...and I can dance but I am banned from TOC for saying this
