His medical education was highlighted by an extra year of Clinical and Research Clerkships in Ophthalmology. This included training at the Eye and Ear Institute at University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
