Dr. Rami Garo Apelian, MD

We had an appointment. The Dr came in abruptly and didn’t know what we were in for and wasn’t prepared with any of our information. He was rude and short and made us feel very uncomfortable. At that time we decided to not continue our visit. He should really work on his bedside manner!

I went to Dr. Apelian back in 2013 for a look into sciatica I was experiencing, when he discovered upon his initial examination that I have symptoms of something going on in my brain or spinal cord. I had MRIs of my lumbar and cervical spine, and MS was ruled out, but my brain had not been MRId yet. Before that final MRI, he said to me, "I know something is wrong and it's driving me crazy that I can't find out yet!" (referring to the fact that it would take a couple of weeks until the MRI results could be reviewed because of waiting between appointments). I loved that he was so determined and invested in my case. It was very reassuring and made me feel like he actually cared about me. Alas, that last MRI of my brain revealed a sizeable arachnoid cyst. Dr. Apelian told me that my case is "extremely rare" and recommended surgery. He got in touch with his AMAZING neurosurgeon friend Dr. Gabriel Zada at Keck USC. Dr. Apelian was so extremely professional, kind, thorough, invested, and… patient. He was so great that I still think fondly of him 6 years later and compare how he was with every other doctor I get. Definitely choose him!

Dr. Apelian is one of the finest doctors I've seen in recent years. He listened to me, asked a variety of questions, administered a thorough examination and battery of tests, and referred me out for more testing to make sure every stone was overturned. He was not going to let my condition go undiagnosed - something that has happened to me plenty in the past. His manner is kind, attentive, respectful, and not condescending. He gave me a great deal of his time. I wish every doctor visit was as pleasant and productive as the one I had with Dr. Apelian.

I have complete trust and faith in Dr. Apelian. I believe him to be quite intelligent and passionate in his chosen field of medicine. He listens, explains thoroughly and has terrific "bedside", caring manners. I look forward to my visits with Dr. Apelian and would definitely recommend him to family and friends.

Dr. Apelian addressed all of my concerns with a holistic approach. After seeing numerous neurologists for migraines and neck pain, he offered a treatment approach that differed from the "same-old, same-old", and I have seen tremendous improvement. I highly recommend Dr. Apelian for a fresh, comprehensive perspective.

I have never written a review of a physician before, but I am motivated to write one for Dr. Apelian because of the very positive experiences I have had. He excels in explaining the tests and diagnosis, with a warm, caring attitude. I had seen another well-known neurologist in Arcadia, who should take lessons from Dr. Apelian in patient interaction! I told my primary care doctor that I simply would not return to that first doctor. Dr. Apelian, however, put me at ease during the re-do of the EMG (shock-emitting nerve conduction test). His staff is helpful, and his website is easy to navigate. Twice now he has replied to an e-mail message from me within 30 minutes! This is very impressive. Often doctors are so busy that accessibility is a major patient complaint, but even though Dr. Apelian is busy, he obviously considers it important to find time to quickly respond to his patients. I have already recommended Dr. Apelian to friends and I follow him on Twitter!

Dr. Apelian is totally interested in his patients' well being. Is thorough in his reviews of lab tests, specific with drug information, and is a great listener and communicator, answering any and all questions that we may have.
