Dr. Randall Jay Risinger, MD

Dr. Risinger has performed total reverse shoulder surgery on both my arthritic shoulders over the last 5 years. He and his staff are professional, thorough, and personable. Dr. Risinger takes the time for a thorough explanation of his diagnosis, what corrective actions are necessary, and what to expect during recovery. My recoveries went quick and I have regained pain free range of motion and returned to my activities of daily living that I hadn’t experienced in years. He’s an excellent surgeon that listens and understands his patients. I would highly recommend him.

Had 2 surgical procedures done by Dr Risenger 5 years apart,one for each shoulder. The results were outstanding. Last one was a total reverse replacement after fracturing my humerus. 3 months out and I am back into archery. I'd call that a small miracle but he had assured me he'd get me back in the game. Before Dr.Risinger did surgery on my shoulder, I was in serious pain most of the time. 9 weeks later and for that time, I have nearly no pain. His suggestion of physical therapy is excellent and very beneficial for range of motion and strength. Overall, I would 100% see him again if needed. And he is a really personable.

Dr. Risinger is excellent, very professional, easy to talk with and clear about my shoulder situation and the plan for total reverse replacement. The 6/20 surgery went smoothly. Today, 10/3, 15 weeks later, I've made great progress, have full extension and the only complaint I have is sleeping on the operated side, which will take more time. I did PT and Pilates before to prepare and PT after to recover, 35 visits, because I was determined to recover well. I would emphasize that I believe in addition to his well known skills as a surgeon, his training of the physical therapy staff at Magna Physical Therapy in Avon resulted in my positive outcome. This is important; they know his potocols and expectations, and what needs to happen both before the surgery and after. Megan Harvey at Magna has been an excellent therapist and guide, clear about the progression of exercises and therapy and set my expectations for the best sequence of events in my recovery. I could not be more grateful… for the support from both Dr. Risinger and his team and Magna.

Top notch! Dr. Risinger does a great job of translating medical terms/procedures into laymen terms, but at the same time not making you feel like he’s talking down to you. He, and his staff are very good at what they do. I was in quite a bit of pain with my shoulder for almost two decades and reluctant to have a procedure done because I heard different opinions about getting a procedure done. Ultimately, I decided to pursue the procedure and was recommended to Dr. Risinger. I’m glad I was! If you have been contemplating getting a procedure done, contact Dr. Risinger, you won’t regret it.

I really like Dr. Risinger. He is straight forward and to the point and explained everything to me in a way that made it easy for me to understand. He instantly made me comfortable about the surgery and answered all my questions. His staff was great too. I have actually given his name to 2 of my friends. I would use him again!

The best orthopedic surgeon should you need a total shoulder replacement. I am so happy with the results of my surgery. My shoulder is back to full use. I am pain free and able to move well and lift my arm above my head.
