Great Doctor.

I have been going to Southwest Family Medicine in West Jordan Utah for nearly 20 years, they have been pretty good to me. Although, as I sit in their waiting room I often see Pharmaceutical Reps walking in as if they own the place. I recently had what I believe to be a rheumatoid arthritis attack which caused me to be unable to walk without severe pain in both knees and in my left middle finger knuckle. "Yes my birdie finger". My mother has Rheumatoid Arthritis. My left hand middle finger is now visibly slightly deformed by swelling. I met with Doctor Randal Watson, we talked about my issues and he said I should get an ex-ray and prescribed me the drug Duexis and said it would really help me and it is easy on the stomach. I went to Harmon's in Pharmacy in West Valley City, 3500 South and 4000th West to get the prescription and the pharmacist laughed…. he told me it was literally ibuprofen and famotidine, a heartburn medicine, both could be purchased for less than $20 dollars. The cost… of my prescription for Duexis was over $2000 dollars for one month. My insurance denied it, my pharmacist priced it out and we both laughed and said, this is crazy. I then went home and did an internet search on this drug and verified everything my pharmacist had said. It is simply a pharmaceutical company that combined Ibuprofen and heartburn meds. He also never called me back about my knee ex-ray and he was the one to examine it, not a radiologist. Before now, I did not realize that Doctors in the USA could be paid for prescribing drugs. I have since talked to several other people and researched this issue, and it is perfectly legal.

The doctor is nice but his Medical assistants are incompetent and don't get back to you about important lab results until a month later. And they have messed up prescriptions when sending them to the pharmacy, than I spend another week playing phone tag with his assistant.

BEST DOCTOR THAT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. DR. WATSON SAVED MY LIFE. HE FOUND MY CANCER.

Dr. Watson is a good Dr. but his MA and the front office are not very nice people. His MA does not call back with results or medicines in a timely manner and she is not friendly whenever I come in to see him. Whenever I come in for an appointment or call the front office staff are not friendly at all. Would recommend him but warn of his staff.

Dr. Watson has been our family doctor for many years and is one of the most amazing people I ever met. The care of his patients is the foremost concern for Randy. He not only tries to diagnose the patient, he listens to the patient's opinions and feelings. He has surrounded himself with a wonderful staff and a group of professionals that are very knowledgeable and work really hard for the patient's well-being. If he is unavailable, his professional staff, the other doctors, PA's, Nurse Practioners, is willing and able to step in and assist his patients. At times the office seems busy, but I know it is because they are doing their best to give EVERYONE the best care possible. I highly recommend Dr. Watson as a General Practice or Family Doctor.

On more than one occasion Dr. Watson has either not written down what he has prescibed and asked me where I got the medicine. He has taken over two weeks to get back to me on important test results. I called his office numerous times to get the results without a call back.

dr. and p.a. not familiar enough with insurance coding so needed to pay more for labs.other than this very satisfied with drs. and staff.

Dr. Watson is excellent! Unfortunately, the service provided by the office and his immediate staff can sometimes be a challenge! Poor follow-up and lack of attention. Nevertheless, I highly recommend Dr. Watson... He's worth the trouble.

Randy has a lot of people who like him, so it's sometimes difficult to get appointments for physicals and even sometimes for an appointment for illness. He's great though, with his patients and spends a lot of time with them. There are a couple of complaints I have, and neither one have directly to do with Doc Watson. Number one is that often if Randy is too busy, you get scheduled with his PA, which is okay for the most part, but sometimes tests are ordered which aren't needed. I had a nuclear med electrocardiogram ordered for me, and after I had run on the treadmill for several minutes, the attending cardiologist took a look at the test and go angry that such a test had been ordered for me. "Why is this guy in here?" he said, "this test should only be given to someone with clear heart problems". I didn't have those indications, only some unexplained pain in my chest that ended up being acid reflux. Again, this was the physician's assistant and not Randy that ordered this test.The… second complaint is that the staff doesn't see the urgency of ordering your meds for you. I was running out of mine after several calls to their answering machine stressing such. Finally I told them I would be out the next day and they ordered it. Doctor's offices should realize that patients stress out when their needed medications are running out and get them ordered for them promptly.
