Dr. Randy Jay Epstein, MD

I am currently about one month out from my cataract surgery being complete in both eyes. I could not be more pleased with the results. Dr. Epstein and I chose the distance vision lenses due to my other eye issues. I had terrible night vision which he corrected with an 90% improvement. As I stated, I did have other eye issues so this was quit an achievement by Dr. Epstein. I am so very grateful for the outcome. I do not need any glasses for distance anymore. Dr. Epstein is very focused on his work and in my opinion this is why the wait times in his office can be long. He will spend the time with you necessary to troubleshoot and solve your eye issues. I chose Dr. Epstein due to his accomplished reputation as well as its my EYES for goodness sake. Something you just don't want to toy with. If I do have any other eye issues in the future I would certainly be coming back to see Dr. Epstein. I found him to be pleasant

This doctor is in business not a doctor. Told me my cataracts were 'moderate' but with additional opinion I was told my cataracts are 1 on a scale from 1-10!! He was ready to schedule me for surgery. In addition he is condescending and a poor communicator.

Horrific wait time of 3 hours. spent 5 minutes with me. Go to a different doctor

I only wore reading glasses before cataract surgery. Now I still need reading glasses but I also need distance and driving glasses. He said he jowls not correct.

Eliminated my cataracts, corrected my astigmatism/myopia to better than 20/20 in both eyes. Dr. Epstein has an interesting personality but achieves near perfection. I recommend him very highly.

Regret using him. On right eye Cataract laser cut too deep, too long/needed stitches/lense not centered. Left eye had staph infection/Ophthalmologist at Chicago Cornea refused to see me when I was blind and in pain post-op. Had to go to different Retina specialist on my own for treatment of Staph infection from surgery. I now need the strongest reading glasses for both eyes after paying extra for multi-focal lenses and Aura procedure. There is clouding in both,eyes are bloodshot with new glaucoma diagnosis in both. I do not recommend Chicago Cornea Consultants

Dr Epstein performed a DMEK for me - considered best treatment for Fuchs Dystrophy. Very involved surgery you wouldn’t want done except by someone highly trained and experienced. My results were excellent. You may have to wait to see him on occasion but when you do you have his full attention.

Dr. Epstein came highly recommended by my opthomoligst and my first visit was over 2/hrs. i had several different tests and had wait time between tests. I was told this would be a normal wait time for any appt. with Dr. Epstein and to plan on a time period of not less than two hrs. I scheduled cataract (first eye) almost 2/months after my ininial visit. I retured to his offce (scheduled visit) for 2 more tests. My wait time was 3-1/2 Hrs. I approached his front desk and told reception that I would be leaving if Dr. Epstein did not see me within the 10 minutes. I waited 20 minutes befoee seeing him. I will be cancelling my upcoming cataract surgery with him. The wait time is unacceptable. He may be a great surgeon but I feel he has little regard for his patients.
