Dr. Ranjan Simon Maitra, MD

Dr. Maitra is nice, but hurried. I had a full knee replacement and had but one physical therapy session! I griped about this but still did not get more. Dr. Maitra said I was doing great on my own. In truth I was in the dark as to how hard to push the rehab and suffered when I worked too hard. And I had no way of knowing if I was doing things correctly, in the right order or how long. He cut my pain meds out after 3 months though I was still in pain. This did not help my own self therapy. He doesnt listen. My knee still gets very stiff and hurts at night in bed. He always says things like, "Well you had a full knee replacment!" Like this is normal and I should buck up. My knee is still very warm to touch and I told him so after 6 months. He wasnt concerned. When I relayed the fact that I would like him to listen to me and be a little more receptive, he reminded me he had other patients to see~! Thank God for the internet. I get answers there like my knee obviously has some infection… going on if its still warm to the touch and gets stiff. This concerns me but doesnt concern Dr Maitra. He sent me away with, "See you in 6 months" ! I think a surgeon should be more receptive of his patients concerns and take the time to explain the possibilities as to the hows and why"s and if's. I feel I have been on my own but for the 3 appointments I had with Dr, Maitra. And those were over before I knew it. I am not grading his surgical abilities. I am not qualified to do so. He is a nice man and may well be a very capable surgeon, but he has a long way to go in the communications department.

Dr. Maitra explained everything thoroughly and took the time to answer all of my questions. I credit his skill and experience for my very good recovery from hip replacement surgery, posterior approach.

Very hurried, didn't address any of my concerns.

Went there with a torn meniscus. After surgery, had another issue where Dr Maitra entered my knee with his surgical hardware. went back, he acted like it wasn't because of his surgery. Ordered a knee brace and that's was it.He doesn't have time to speak to his patients. He was walking out of room as i was asking him questions. One has to pull every comment out of him. Sorry, I will no longer be a patient of his.

Excellent doctor. He told me what my problem was, what to expct, and approximately how long it would take to heal.

Dr. Maitra is a great dr, but the staff could use some lessons on customer service and the wait time is always long.

The practice is not patient oriented. None of the staff including the doctor seem to be interested in seeing that the patient's needs are being met. Also, the practice does not keep the patients of the timeliness. The appointment was one hour late for last couple of times I was there. No one seemed to take any responsibility for anything outside a narrow range (for example, the nurse would not make a minor change in the address records and the doctor would not take any responsibility for his timeliness of the appointment. ) In general , I got the feeling that the office was staff centered and not patient centered,

After one year of so much pain..Dr. Maitra is Amazing...My right shoulder was torn and shredded..This was also my first surgery at 47 years of age ..He was so nice and caring . As a Surgeon I rate ...on a scale of 1 to 10 ..Him and his staff get a 100 +percent . GOD BLESS DR. MAITRA AND HIS STAFF...Thank You from the bottom of my heart!
