Dr. Raphael Jerome Leo, MD

I had a horrible experience with Dr. Leo as well. Today I looked into what can be done and learned that a class action or individual medical malpractice lawsuit could be filed if he "departed from the standards of medical practice". He is still employed by UBMD and ECMC, and the Jacobs School of Medicine. PLEASE write Dr. Thomas Quatroche- the CEO of ECMC and Lawrence DiGiulio- the Chief Compliance Officer of UBMD, and tell them of your experience! Multiple calls, emails, and letters will get their attention. MOST IMPORTANTLY!... RIGHT NOW! file a complaint online with the NYS Medical Board...to put all institutions where he works on further notice and to CAUSE HIS MEDICAL LICENSE TO BE REVOKED! If you are still a patient, and can provide audio proof of his abusive nature during appointments please submit your recordings to the NYS Medical Review Board. I have done all that I am asking of you in an effort to prevent further damage to Dr. Leo's potential patients. Cannot understand how this man is a doctor and allowed to write prescriptions.

No way shape or form is this man a doctor. Acted like a child. Ecmc needs to really look into this fraud

what a joke. First encounter was he was outside his office waiting for me looking at his watch. A very impish looking man. I was right on time...… He seemed agitated in some way. I brought in all my medical reports, hospital reports, cat scans, and medication list ………………. nothing, didn't want to see them or care but gave me a nasty smirk and a giggle this was within first 3 minutes went downhill fast. does not belong with any medical degree from what I was able to obtain *** do not go ***

I saw him when I was a patient at Roswell Park four years ago. I am still furious at how he treated me. He wrote a prescription, didn’t tell me what it was for, and threw it across the table at me. When I asked for details of what it was and why he prescribed it he became defensive. Also, he is creepy. Avoid this guy!

First, thank you VITALS for the opportunity to share our experiences (good and bad) with others so they have a clear understanding of the physicians that they may be researching for help in their particular situation. I saw Dr. Raphael Leo for approximately a 6-month period of time. I began in July of 2017 and my last, disturbing appointment was November, 2017. At first, I had a good experience with Dr. Leo. He seemed to be understanding and initially, be helped me with a sleep issue, due to my being effected by a sexual assault that occurred by a fellow co-worker at my place of employment. He prescribed an additional medication that my primary had not explored, and thus helped my sleep issue. But, after the first 2 sessions, I found myself going home agitated instead of being helped with dealing with the after-effects of a sexual assault. After the first 2 sessions, he never even discussed it. Ignored the whole situation completely. Always wanted to talk about my work… environment, but not the assault. On my 5th visit, I began the session telling Dr. Leo that I was very upset due to the fear of my attacker being brought back to work after being on a 6-month paid leave while the company "investigated" the issue. All signs showed that the possibility of the perpetrator returning to the workplace were going to happen. He asked me how I felt about it, and I told him I would probably have a nervous breakdown, and he told me three time - "NO, I would not". This agitated me more than I already was. I was there for treatment of this horrendous event, and at no time did the therapy session help me with the feelings of sexual assault. Every session I had to continuously remind him of certain things regarding my work, over and over again, almost like he had not patience to deal with it, so he purposely tried to make me feel like I was wrong. He continued to agitate me and continually asked the same questions, and he was becoming agitated. After 20 minutes of this round and round discussion, I told him that I felt we needed to end this session. He became more agitated. I told him to just bill me for this session and that I was leaving. I got up to leave the office and he asked me if we were done with treatment. I told him I was seeing my primary soon and that I would discuss this with him, to which he stated "why do you need to talk to your primary - you are an adult aren't you?" At that point, I felt that he was being very unprofessional and I just left the office. I do not feel that these sessions helped in any way, they just upset me even more by having a psychiatrist that I was referred to by my primary, not address the actual issue I was there for and I felt that this was not a good fit for me. I get more support and guidance from family, rather than this so-called "professional". Several weeks later, I called the office for copies of my medical record so that I could have them for my primary and to seek out a more effective psychiatrist and he had his office staff member tell me that I should have the doctor I see request the medical records. He didn't even have the decency to call me himself. 2 weeks later, I have never received any documentation from his office, but he was sure to bill the insurance company for the hour session, when I was only there for 20 minutes. This psychiatrist made a sexual assault victim feel worse - I received no benefit from his "services", so if you are experiencing sexual harassment/assault, I do not recommend Dr. Raphael Leo - he is not a good fit for those that are dealing with the traumatic experience with victims.

I was evaluated by Dr. Leo during a time in which I was being tested for cancer at Roswell Park. I was of course apprehensive about the outcome, and due to my chronic illness I was on plethora of medication, some of which had caused me to have shape and pattern hallucinations. Being proactive I asked the doctors at Roswell to set me up to speak to a psychiatrist to give me insight on why this is happening . They set me up with Dr. Leo. Upon meeting he made very little eye contact as he didn't seem interested in me or his job. It's as if the head doctor needed therapy. My experience was similar to others commentor's... He was unnecessarily sarcastic, rude-loving to bombard you with questions cutting you off as you try to answer each one. He was extremely condescending, one could tell he had developed a bias or… even contempt for people with mental issues, he seemed worn out, like an old beat cop. When I told him about the weird shapes I had been seeing he callously said "Oh my God, you should be committed ". I quickly realized that I was not going to get insight from Dr. Leo. He wasn't going to care to problem solve like a lucid, professional by asking me what medication I was on or my pain or anxiety levels- two things that could easily lead to hallucinations instead Dr. Leo sat with his back to me and ran a psych test from his laptop. I felt under arrest, held against my will and any wrong move would land me in a rubber room, when I had just come for guidance. I was at his mercy, his word against nothing because I had no voice, and complaining of mistreatment could easily be chucked up to my being crazy.....all he had to do was say it. I completed his evaluation and was happy to get out of there alive, with no answers or help. I later got my medical records and his derogatory, condescending tone is all over it. It reads as if I was trying to act crazy in order to get disability insurance , and it made it appear as if I favored psychotropic drugs, the whole reason I was there was covered in one sentence, and mocked as he said I quickly retracted saying that I saw shapes. I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU STAY CLEAR OF THIS ONE BECAUSE HE's BEEN TAKING HIS OWN DRUGS OR NEEDS TO START TO. AGAIN THANK YOU VITALS! AND FOR THOSE READING THIS LETS BE PROACTIVE AND CALL ROSWELL AND ECMC AND DEMAND HIS EXPULSION TELL THEM TO READ OUR STORIES ON VITALS! I'm going to do it right now!

I have known Dr. Leo for more that 18 years.. I worked with him and now he is helping me... He is very knowledgeable kind, sensitive, empathetic, realistic, difficult(a good thing) but most of all.. I truly believe he cares! I hope others will come to appreciate his gift....

He is the worst doctor I have ever seen. Spent a total of two minutes with me, lost my paperwork, and made my entire stay worse. Would not come in to fix his own mistake.

I would Rate him a '0' for all categories, based on his rude and unprofessional dealing with my son
