Dr Raquel Garza Vela, APRN

"Raquel Garza Vela, FNP, is board certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, AANP. She
is cardiopulmonary resuscitation, CPR, advanced cardiovascular life support, ACLS certified, and has over
20 years of experience in the nursing profession. At Conviva Bayside, she provides compassionate, patientfocused
primary care with a commitment to medical excellence.
Ms. Garza Vela earned a Master of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Walden
School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She obtained her RN to FNP degree from Walden University
in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She received an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing in June 2011, a Licensed
Vocational Nurse degree in June 2000, and a Certified Nurse Assistant degree in 1997 from Coastal Bend
College in Beeville, Texas.
Ms. Garza Vela has served as a family nurse practitioner with the Community Action Corporation of South
Texas, CACOST, a private 501 non-profit organization providing …opportunities to reduce poverty through
services and partnerships. She joined the organization in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and is
experienced in assessing and treating COVID-19. As an intensive care registered nurse, she honed her
treatment planning and clinical care abilities, providing a solid foundation for the role of a family nurse
practitioner.
Ms. Garza Vela seeks to grow as a family nurse practitioner in the community and collaborate with her
colleagues and providers to help older adults live happier and healthier lives. She loves being outdoors,
watching her children play sports, listening to music, and studying."
