Dr. Rashmi Chhabra, MD

2 years back I walked with my sister Alice into Dr. Chhabra' office without an appointment . My sister Alice was barely able to breathe but did not want to go to the hospital due to previous bad experiences. It was lunch time and Dr. Chhabra was eating. She spent her lunch hour helping my sister and my sister was breathing better after several breathing treatments and a shot. Alice was given next day appointment to follow up. We have been going to Dr. Chhabra ever since. Her staff is very professional and accommodating. I cannot thank Dr. Chhabra enough for saving Alice's life.

Dr. Chhabra has been my primary care physician for over 5 years. I am a 93 year-old male, and I find her care to be very excellent. She is very pleasant during my visits with her, yet she is very professional at all times. She gives very freely with her time and answers my questions in a very professional manner, yet she is easy to understand. I would highly recommend her for anyone seeking high quality professional care.

Prescribed incorrect heart medication, heart raced and then was told to go have many tests, well known that the medication given would increase heart rate. If a patient can find this on WEBMD on a home computer, should a practicing physician know this? BEWARE AND STAY AWAY, SEEK PROFESSIONAL CARE.

My loving and well-loved, vibrant sister, Susan Masters (age 62), died suddenly and unnecessarily while under the care of Dr. Rashmi Chabbra. Susan died all alone when she dropped dead in her driveway while simply trying to walk to her mailbox. She had suffered a massive bilateral pulmonary embolism. She was currently taking a drug for osteoporosis, raloxifene, prescribed by Dr. Chabbra, which carries a black box warning for pulmonary embolism. Susan did not even have osteoporosis. When Susan and I visited Dr. Chabbra, 5 days before Susan's death, Dr. Chabbra took little to no interest in the fact that Susan could barely walk, had been suffering pain while breathing for over a week, and had a racing heart rate of 117 beats per minute. Chabbra just proceeded in a chatty, way to tell Susan she was recovering from bronchitis (Susan had NOT been coughing) and gave her a prescription for a steroid, which could have made her pulmonary embolism worse. Dr. Chabbra also proceeded to tell Susan… to go to the store and get some deli chicken soup that "was to die for". I know this is what happened because I was there. If Susan had been sent straight to the ER, which I believe Dr. Chabbra should have done, I believe she would be alive and well today.

Caring & personable. Good sense of humor. Listens. I Was one of her first patients in GV. Have sent 4 friends to her...they've been helped and pleased. She's a keeper.

Bedside manners are very disappointing. Tone used in front of patient could be heard to waiting area. She's okay if you don't want explanations or ask questions. Additionally, got tired of hearing that at 82 mom had exceeded her lfe span! Insensitive and rude is how I can best describe this doctor!

I was initially very happy with Dr. Chhabra. I went to her for about a year and a half. During that time, she encouraged me to lose weight and exercise more. She did this after giving me a physical (noting that I had a heart murmur and doing standard blood tests and an EKG. She did not order any more extensive tests than those few. I complied with her encouragement to diet and exercise more. I returned for several appointments to check on a borderline high BP. She was pleased with my weight loss and my continued daily exercising. When I saw her about three weeks from my next yearly physical (needed a refill on BP prescription), she checked my heart/BP and sent me on my way. Three weeks later I tripped and fell on my daily power walk and had to go the local Urgi Care for a fx wrist. The Physician's Assistant stated he was calling an ambulance because something was seriously wrong with my heart. I was seen by a specialist who performed all kinds of diagnostic tests and was… told I had to have open heart surgery within the next 2 weeks for Serious Atrial (heart valve) Stenosis (a heart cath found my arteries completely clear). The cardiac surgeon couldn't believe that the heart valve problem wasn't diagnosed BEFORE I was told to exercise. He stated that I could have dropped dead at any time during the year I was exercising/lifting weights. He stated that the STANDARD test for a loud heart murmur (which I had, believe me--they had me listen to the murmur) is a baseline heart sonogram. That was not done by this doctor before she told me to go out and exercise. When I returned to see her following open heart surgery she acted surprised and noticeably uncomfortable she had missed this critical health issue. No apology though. When I checked my insurance a few weeks later to make sure payments were up to date, I noticed that there was no charge put in for the appointment I had with her the 3 weeks before the heart issue was diagnosed at the hospital. I called her office to find out what the problem was and I was told by the receptionist that she had no record that I had an appointment on that date. I insisted I'd been in and I reminded her of a conversation she and I had before booking the appointment. There was quiet on the other end of the phone and I could tell that she remembered me coming in. She then insisted that I hadn't been there. I then asked that she have Dr. Chhabra call me. I never had my call returned. The fact that this doctor missed the diagnosis is pretty bad but then to wipe my records clear of the fact that I was in the office for a medical appointment is pretty unethical in my opinion. This is not someone I would recommend for something other than a non-complicated health issue. Unfortunately, I sure didn't think I had anything very complicated when I saw here!

My wife had a severe upper respiratory infection and called the office as a new patient. Same day appoint was made. Dr spent one hour including treatment and called back early in the morning the next day to see how my wife was doing. Was not satisfied with her progress and was seen the same day. Usually that kind of follow up and concern this does not happen nowadays. My wife was so impressed she had our Medicare Advantage carrier assign Dr. Chabbra as her primary physician.

Dr. Chhabra is a very compassionate and competent doctor. She spends time with patient to correctly diagnose and treat their condition. She diagnosed my wife's cancer in timely fashion. I request the person who has given bad rating to this doctor to stop spreading wrong information. We need good doctors like her and we need to do everything to keep her.
