Dr. Ravi Jayadev Patel, MD

I went to see Dr. Patel after my primary care physician referred me to him. I am 31 and was having severe buttock and leg pain for three months prior to seeing Dr. Patel after injuring myself. I had started losing feeling in my foot and my big toe was becoming weak and I was starting to have foot drop. I had never had surgery in my life, so I was extremly nervous to see a surgeon. Dr Patel did not push me into having surgery, he just laid out all my options. He was very kind, and spent just over 30 minutes with me going over options, surgery procedures, and my xray and mri images. I of course asked him if he was in my shoes what would he do? And how many surgeries had he performed because he is pretty young. He answered all my questions and concerns and at the end of my appointment he advised me to go home and discuss it with my family. Dr Patel and his scheduler were so nice and fit me in after x-mas so I could take some of my work leave during the holidays. I had my surgery… shortly after x-mas of 2010 and even-though i will never be comepletly "normal" again. My quality of life has improved tremendously from before my surgery. Before surgery, I could not sleep at night, sit at all, or play on the floor with my son, and post 9 months surgery I can do all those things again with no pain!! Every so often I get some pain if I over do it with my back or twist my back too fast. So i'm learning all my limits. Dr. Patel and his assistant Anne were so kind, helpful, and answered all my questions, concerns, and took great care of me. They were also great with my family after my surgery as far as keeping them updated with my status and even showed them pictures of the herniated disc they had removed!! hahaI would definately recommend Dr. Patel!!!
