Dr. Jesse Clyde Delee, MD

Dr. Delee replaced my left knee in 2019. He cut a nerve on the outside of my knee, leaving it numb to this day. He assured me that it would grow back in 12-18 months. Nope. He accidentally cut my gastrocnemius and didn't even know it. It was never stitched. Each time I complained, he ordered more STRETCHING, further extending healing time. Finally, after 3.5 months, he ordered an MRI which showed the damage. As a result, my knee still hasn't healed properly. I can't bend it very far, I can't kneel on it, and I can't stand/walk for long periods. A revision is in my future. He may have been a good surgeon at one time but that time has passed.

I tore my left ACL in 2003. Back then, online reviews were not a forte but I just had to write about Dr. DeLee today, 16 years come this 2019 Halloween, since my surgery. I am incredibly fortunate to have been directed to Dr. DeLee, as many of his mentees and fellow colleagues who work(ed) with the Spurs were highlighted as the 'popular' person to go to. I injured my knee during my sophomore year of high school, and had a promising career to gain a full scholarship to play the sport I loved. Clearly, I was devastated when Dr. DeLee broke the news to me that I had torn my ACL and would require surgery and months of rehabilitation. Even though my knee was injured, Dr. DeLee gave me the best advice by encouraging me to run/build strength during the weeks I waited for my surgery. "The Stronger You Go In, The Stronger You'll Come Out." I will never forget the day of my surgery. It was Halloween, afterall. But more so, it was because Dr. DeLee's protocol was that after surgery, I… was to stay in the hospital over night and be released the next morning. This is key! -- My stay allowed my body to heal, and for me to learn how to use a mobilization unit that would move my knee for me while I slept, or rested, since my ligaments (which were still muscle tendons moved at this point) were weak and sore. Dr. DeLee did not budge when I begged to be released prior to the dreaded 6 month rehab. AND THIS I WILL ALSO BE FOREVER GRATEFUL TO HIM! Dr. DeLee's expertise in the rejuvination of a muscle becoming a ligament is absolutely breathtaking and so much appreciated. I had other friends and teammates of mine who experienced the same unfortunate injury to their knees - but were never encouraged to work out prior to surgery; were never even given the opportunity to stay over night in the hospital after surgery; and evidently never even had a chance to use the mobilization device that moved the knee to prevent cartlidge buildup, and enhance flexbility during a sensitive stage. After I followed Dr. DeLee's orders, and by the Grace of God being blessed with skilled coaches -- I was able to continue my basketball career as a starting forward/guard, and ultimately be recrutied for college basketball. There is no way I would have been able to achieve the accomplishments I was able to, personal or not, without Dr. DeLee's encouragement, expertise, and understanding. I cannot believe it has taken me 15 years to write a review. But, better late than never, right? Dr. DeLee if you ever read this, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your work and allowing me not only to follow my dream as a young adult, but to have continuing strength in my knees. I am 31 and still have the most awesome legs, I enjoy running, I can jump and slide and skate. Everything and more, all because of Dr. DeLee. I highly recommend him and appreciate anyone who sat through this whole review. =)

Went in for a tear in my Meniscus.Saw Dr Delee. Quick appt set up. Little wait time. Clear analysis and suggestion for surgery. Few weeks later post surgery all was good and knee has performed without a problem since the surgery. Excellent experience by an extremely competent and caring physician who clearly is an expert in his field.Unfortunately now its my other knee but without hesitation I will go back and see him!

Dr. Delee performed ACL replacement surgery for me. I had a horrible and painful experience with a prior ACL surgery (on my other knee) performed by another surgeon and wanted to avoid it at all costs. Dr. Delee diagnosed the issues immediately with a couple of hands on tests (which were confirmed with an MRI after the fact) - spot on. Damage to both miniscus, a tear of the MCL and obliterated ACL. Dr. Delee was straight to the point, delivered the bad news, talked me through the process and was confident in his abilities to make a full repair. He recommended several weeks of PT prior to surgery which I followed. I am so glad he was my surgeon! My post surgical pain was significantly less and recovery was cut in half or better compared to before. He was always positive during my followups and very encouraging. His staff is carefully selected and provided excellent support when I needed it. Unfortunately for me, my first ACL replacement performed by a different surgeon has now… failed. I had no hesitation on selecting Dr. Delee as my surgeon for this repair procedure. If you are unfortunate enough to require surgery, I would highly recommend Dr. Delee.

Dr. DeLee is an amazing physician. He has treated my knees and hip with excellent success and has managed to keep me from having surgery. I think he is wonderful. I, also, love his staff. They are an amazing group.

DeLee did both of my hips 2 years apart. I was walking a mile 6 weeks after surgery!! He is no nonsense...but he knows his bones! I'm hoping he is still practicing when my 20 year check up is needed.

In the early 1980s I had a butterfly fracture in my left ulna from a car accident. I had been seeing a doctor in Kerrville,TX for a year and a half and still had my arm in a cast. While visiting Iowa City, IA, I saw a doctor there who recommended Dr. Jesse DeLee and in six weeks my arm was healed. I worship the ground Dr.DeLee walks on.

Dr. DeLee is tops. An outstanding Doctor, on my top 20 list of people I have met in my life whom have made a big difference in my life.
