Dr Mailapur and his staff are the best! They are always so friendly. They always answer you questions and so knowledgeable. He did my gastric sleeve in Nov 2021. He has changed my life! This surgery and his plan has saved my life! I am so pleased and happy! Today was my 6 month checkout. From the time I started seeing him, I am down 120 pounds. 79 since surgery. He knows what he is doing. My only regret is not doing it sooner.

I've given several reviews on Dr. Mailapur. He did my surgery 2 years ago and he is as wonderful now as he was when I first met him. He cares very much for his patients. I was so impressed with his years of surgery and his caring and compassion for his patients. First time I met him and his staff I felt completely at ease. Thank you Dr. Mailapur and staff!

Where to start... First, I was 461 lbs, had trouble just walking to the mailbox, had low energy and was taking 460-500+ units of insulin 'daily' and the list goes on. I knew I had to make a change but couldn't get out of my head that Bariatric surgery would be the "END of eating anything enjoyable EVER!" Life as I knew it would be over. How wrong and how right I was. It is 1 year after my surgery and I have currently lost 160 lbs., can do things I haven't been able to in over a decade (like walk a couple miles or take my wife on a vacation), I am off over half the meds I was taking and get this, my GP has taken me completely OFF of insulin! Eating? The biggest change in food has been a mental shift towards eating healthy. Who knew? Still, I eat most anything I want, just a whole lot less of it. So yes, life as I knew it 'is' over and I am loving the new one. I can not thank Dr. Mailapur enough for making this transformation possible! Life is truly a joy (and getting better!). Last,… I have not listed all the things that have been involved in this process but I assure you, Dr. Mailapur and his people are professional and well organized. They have a book which gives you all the info you need from start to finish: They really prepare you for this life changing event from what is involved in the surgery to what to eat after (step by step), lists of specific types of vitamins, foods, amounts, etc... too much to list here, but know you are in good hands. And that he stays invested in your success by continuing to see you long after the surgery. Thank you again Doc and all who were involved in changing my life.

Dr. Mailapur is a fantastic doctor and surgeon. He explained everything so well and was patient with all of my questions. I would recommend him to anyone interested in weight loss surgery.

The surgery itself went fine..it was after that I am having problem with...i had an appointment two weeks after my surgery to have the staples removed...a nurse came in and took the staples out but the doctor never came in to check to see if they were ready to be taken out...4 days later, I was getting out of my chair to go to bed, my surgery site literally ripped open...the internal stitches had ripped along with my skin...i realized what had happened and freaked out....it was a very deep wound and it was bleeding very badly...i found a number to call in the packet that I was given when I was discharged..i called the number and the answer service told me that he would get the doctor to call me back...He called in 20 minutes, I tried to tell him what had happened but he would not let me finish..he started telling me, that there was nothing he could do and to just change the dressing on it once a day...this whole time I am still freaking out and he was not going to help me....i did not… sleep for 2 days after that.. i went to see two another doctors, both told me that it was now too late but it could have been fixed when I called the night that it happened..well, it is now 5 weeks and I still have an open wound on my back...and you know what!!!???? The doctor or the office staff has not called me to check on me...

Dr. Mailapur has performed two surgeries for me. I highly recommend Dr. Mailapur and his assistant.

Worst experience ever. He badly botched a surgery, ignored my concerns 36 hours after surgery to remove a small cyst, and then "excused" me from his care immediately after he ripped open my surgical would a week later. He told me to pack my wound, did not give me any written directions, and mocked me when I cried from the pain I was in. Worst doctor ever and dealing with PTSD due to his lack of care is a whole other issue. If I could, I would sue him, but Alabama protects doctors, not patients.

Dr. Mailapur removed my gall bladder, and later did exploratory surgery. Both surgeries were uncomplicated, and I healed very quickly. What I like most about Dr. Mailapur, however, is his sense of humor and his genuine compassion toward his patients. I trust Dr. Mailapur to do the best work possible, taking in all aspects of my complex medical history. Easily 5 stars!

I think Dr. Mailapur cares deeply appointment his patients and is committed to his patients.

Although I can say Dr. mailapur is an exceptional doctor and I have no regrets with the surgery. The staff on the other hand can you some help. Better communication regarding your insurance so no surprises and a different answer then was told during the informational part prior to surgery. Very misleading in my opinion.
