Dr. Ray Jonathan Lara, DO

I was asked to return to see Dr. Lara to get an existing prescription refilled. That med had been working well but he replaced it with three other prescription drugs. After a month I was still miserable. I called and they told me to hang in there, and also corrected what he had told me about the frequency with which to take one of the drugs. After 2 months I was still miserable and yet they would not switch me back to my original medication. I think a drug rep must have come through the office right before my appointment. The appointment itself was disturbing. Two technicians took my history before Dr. Lara came in. This is unfortunately not uncommon, but it can't help but give the physician a curtailed version of the patient's history and presenting problem. He arrived and spent very little time with me. He rattled off instructions for the new medications so quickly that I couldn't keep track of them. I am a scientist and am usually considered pretty quick on the… uptake, but I had to ask for clarification a couple of times. I suppose it could be considered flattering that he thought I could handle the rapid fire information, but it seemed more like he was in a rush. Is he competent? Perhaps. I am not confident in his proficiency however and it is certainly outweighed by the foregoing. It is easy to get in to see him, but is that really a good thing?
