Dr. Raymond Frank Shamos, MD

Dr. Shamos is far an away one of the most combative, insulting and least patient centric doctors I have come upon. I had a total of three appointments with him. The first was regarding pain in my right side. I had been hospitalized twice prior to being seen and knew that my gallbladder was an issue. By the time he had test ordered, I had to go to a different hospital to have my gallbladder removed in what became and emergency due to Dr. Shamos' lack of interest in clinical symptoms or prior testing. Upon returning for a follow up due to persistent pain in my right abdomen, I again received what I can only described as hostile care. Honest questions were met with annoyance and more combativeness. It was clear that since my pain was not operable or within his scope of practice, he had no interest in me as the patient. Even more telling, he discovered a very serious issue on my lung, but made no referral. Gave no advice or even consolation for a painful medical situation. I love St… Joseph's hospital and have been blown away in many cases by the kindness and compassion shown by a variety of doctors. Dr. Shamos is not one of those doctors. To put it bluntly, he had a god complex that will leave you as the patient wanting in your medical care.

Dr. Shamos did two surgeries on my neck/thyroid. His bedside manner was phenomenal and he still calls to check up on me. If I had to do it all over again I would still go to him.

Best office visit and consult experience I have had. Dr Shamos had 3 Resident doctors in to observe all were knowledgeable professional and courteous. The surgery went as planned with overnight stay in the hospital.
