Very impressed with my pre-op meeting and her diagnosis. Very knowledgeable and was informative in explaining my hernia operation.

After an ominous prognosis a highly recommended surgeon ( Virginia Stowell ) from Tacoma said I have to send you to the big boys. Now receiving a remission designation I was permitted to repair an incisional hernia. Staying in "big boy" arena I chose Dr. Petersen ( co director UW Hernia center ) Exceedingly competent : once a patient excellent access to her, her nurse & scheduler Jen. So considerate : she's going to get to know you ( me namby pamby ) and advocate for your comfort & best outcome. Delightful person & top of charts office & staff

Hernia repair surgery. Poor bedside manner. Concerns were dismissed continuously. Ended up taking my post OP concerns elsewhere.

Dr. Petersen is an exceptional surgeon. She performed a hernia repair on my husband after the previous surgeon made a technical error and the hernia returned within two months. Dr. Petersen listened well and understood our concerns going into surgery again. She has excellent communication skills and is patient first in delivery of care. An example of her professionalism is post surgery she greeted me and said lets go talk privately in a room. Other surgeons talked in the surgery waiting room openly for all to hear. She is sensitive, caring and a world class surgeon.
