Total knee replacement done by Dr. Hallows. Procedure done at Duke Regional via NC Orthopedic. Everyone at each location was so meticulous and coordinated from before through recovery. DR 'Forward Motion' class really made us get prepared. We followed all instructions, and this you must do. Was in good shape from years at gym, good weight etc. This helped so much as well. We are not even one month out from surgery and very happy and easy getting around with cane. Don't believe all the scary stuff you'll hear. �� Very little pain. The opioids were the only problem for her thus far so stopped taking them 3-4 days after surgery with no added pain. Kudos to the entire team plus one great surgeon!

I drove 45 minutes to Durham to see Dr. Hallows. My appointment was at 2:00 and unfortunately, I arrived at his office at 2:07 due to traffic. I'm a Stage 4 terminal cancer patient and had just torn a tendon due to some of the steroids that I've been given and could barely walk. There were plenty of empty handicapped parking places at his office but because I don't have a handicapped sticker, I had to park pretty far away from the office. It took me 10 minutes to walk (hobble) to his office because of the pain from the torn tendon. Anyway, when I arrived, I also had to wait to be checked in, which caused me to be even later. By that time it was 2:16, so officially, I had missed the "grace" period by 1 minute! My appointment was cancelled on the spot. I explained to the receptionist that I had driven 45 minutes to get there, that I was in terrible pain and that I am a Stage 4 terminal cancer patient, who had just finished her 31st round of chemo a few days before but she wouldn't… budge. I simply am incredulous to the the arrogance of doctors who don't mind letting you wait hours on them but when you are one minute too late, immediately cancel your appointment. I never saw Dr. Hallows but with this kind of experience at the check in desk, I can't imagine him being a kind doctor with a nice bedside manner. I feel like his staff could have made an exception due to the circumstances and my illness. It was not like I was 30 minutes too late! I'm still angry about this and am looking for an Orthopedic surgeon closer to home, who more importantly, has a courteous and empathetic staff.

Bad experience with a second opinion. Incorrect diagnosis, rude and dismissive. I suspect he was covering for another Dr.'s mistake.

I had my reservations, because of his age (34), but I flt completly confinendent with him, he is an excellent Orthopedic surgeon. He has excellent bedside manner, very caring, straight forward, honest, and has a personality, not cocky, very humble, I beleive him to be awesome..I wouldn't change for anyone, he will be replacing my next knee as well.

he really cared about me and my care....i would recommend him to all my friends and family
