Dr. Rhonda Winstead Gabr, MD

I heave been a patient of Dr. Gabr’s 18-19 years. She was a wonderful and caring person. She stated, “ I was one of her easiest patients.” It seems like dude effects of AED medications were getting the best of me. Trileptal caused me to sodium dump, in which could cause seizures in itself. I went to the ER twice due to this effect. I literally had the intellect of a carrot stick due to this medication,but my physician wasn’t hearing it. Went for a psych evaluation and he wanted to give me an I.E.P. to complete my studies, on my second Masters. This medication was horrible. The second medication (zonasimide) gave me yeast infections for 2.5 years. I must have had two good days out of a month, but hey! Dr. Didn’t believe me. I must have driven my primary care physician and Ob/gyn crazy with the visits. One day my primary doctor said, “we have to get s hold on this!” I took so much Flagyl, I have now built s resistance against it. So, now I’m off both meds. No yeast infections and my… sodium levels are up. Wow! Guess I was right. Now, wait a minute. I’m on s new medication, vimpat. I caused my TSH levels yo flatline, gained weight and my hair fell out. Doctor stated the following, “ it makes you gain moderate weight.” Huh??? I’m on thyroid meds and she knew this. Cannot afford yo gain weight. I understand that side effects are something you have to deal with, but I suffered. Told me to count my calories when I gained from Vimpat. Hard to get thyroid weight off and take Tums for my chronic yeast infections. Wowee! This blatant lack of concern for patients health and wellness is inexcusable and goes against all licensed practices code of ethics and principles, “First do no harm.”

I was a referral from another specialist, so Dr. Gabr first asked me to explain what brought me to her. She asked me to start from the beginning so she could get a clear picture. She then explained what she saw on my MRI, what she felt had caused my condition and what I could expect in the future. She was very attentive, thorough in her explanations and I was quite comfortable with her bedside manner. In the last two months, she is the third doctor and 2nd specialist I have seen about this medical condition and I certainly feel more informed about why it happened and what to expect in the future than I previously did.

Did not even go over all of my symptoms, I felt like she did not listen to my concerns. Ordered a bunch of tests, which I needed, but had her nurse call with rather important information. Why didn’t she schedule an appt to follow-up? I was very disappointed and am trying to figure out how other people liked her! Who did I see?! My experience was so different

I went to see Dr. Gabr from a referral from a friend. She was very through and order tests. Upon the test results she started treating me for MS. I have now been seeing Dr. Gabr and her staff for 2 years now and have realized how grateful I am to have gone to see her - she immediately recognized my illness and started treatment, I cannot thank her enough. She has a very caring beside manner which puts you at ease. Dr. Gabr and her staff Stacy Deese and Mary are great. I never feel rushed and they seem to truly care about me and my care. I cannot give them a more positive review!

Dr.Gabr is the type of Doctor that we all want, need, and expect but never find anymore. Dr. Gabr NEVER makes you feel rushed and always takes as much time as needed to address medical conditions, issues, concerns, etc... Dr. Gabr is extremely thorough and truly has your medical concerns/issues at heart. I would strongly recommend Dr. Gabr to anyone in need of a Neurologist. I can't say enough positive things about her. I truly do not have a single negative thing to say.

Dr Gabr is very caring and unlike other neurologists she did not drop me when nothing initially turned up. She suspected a life threatening condition missed by many other docs and sent me to a specialist who performed emergency pacemaker surgery and saved my life. She now treats me for MS.
