Dr. Rhonda D Hopkins, MD

I have been a patient for almost 20 years. I believe during that time I saw Dr Hopkins 2-3 times. Every other appointment I was seen buy nurse practitioners. I used to feel like I had a group of people who cared about my health there. That changed slowly over the past 10 years as they grew. Going to your appointment was turning into a 2 hour event. Showing up on time, long wait in the waiting room, long wait in the room. The final straw was when my CPAP machine was recalled (stop use immediately) by Phillips. Millions of machines were recalled, so millions of people had to scramble to get new machines. Sleep doctors were MONTHS our from seeing patients. My sleep doctor Dr. Hopkins sent me to works out of a surgery center with no office. It was extremely hard to get him to work with me. So I called my insurance, they told me its no big deal, everyone knows about the recall, everyone just needs a perception from your GP with a copy of your sleep study. I called many CPAP supply stores… in Texas to verify thats happening and it was indeed the case. So I call Dr Hopkins Office to get it a prescription. They told me they wouldn’t do it. Its against their policy. I begged for them to reconsider, but was scolded for calling and trying to work out the details with them. I called and tried to speak with my Nurse Practitioner, but the lady REFUSED to let me. I then demanded I speak with Dr Hopkins, they REFUSED to let me speak with Dr Hopkins or anyone to explain the extenuating circumstances. I don’t think that even legal to do. The same Medical group that told me not to ever even go ONE DAY without my CPAP was now telling me to wait 3 months to see my sleep doctor about it. When your practice gets so big you put policy over your patients health and that stinks because this was a great place at one time. Now every referral you get from Hopkins group is to another practice where you feel like you are just another number, and seems like everyone wants to perform the most expensive and extreme option before the door shuts behind you. There are lots of other let downs and short comings from this office, but I will leave it there for now. My security cameras picked up the audio/video from the extremely rude lady on the phone refusing to let me speak with Dr Hopkins or anyone else but her. Will post it on Youtube when I get a chance.

Let me start by saying individual staff members are friendly and knowledgeable. Having said that, the polices of this practice are infuriating. Examples include not advising of over payments and holding a balance of $100 over a year, while still collecting co-payments; not allowing me to make an appointment for my 21 year old son due to HIPA - no personal information needed to be shared- it was just an appointment, and tight restraints on ongoing prescription refills i.e. thyroid requiring office visit without a change for years. Focus is not on the patient.

Dr. Rhonda Hopkins and her team have been top notch. She has taken the time to explain diagnosis to me and makes sure I understand evverthing if I have questions. The have accomendated me with appts within 48hrs each time I have called to be seen. The staff is friendly and approachable. Two thumbs up to Gloria for showing me how to navagate the site to send in refills or to send the staff questions. Trust me you are in good hands with this team! Clee

I had been to see Dr. Hopkins twice. I was a new patient with an acute medical problem each time. Neither time was the area that was of medical concern examined. I had my weight, blood pressure, and ears and eyes looked at. I was referred for other scans without ever having an examination or physical. Most of the time spent was with the PA sitting in the exam room with lap top asking me questions. Other than the use of the Otoscope for eyes and ears, I had no examination. I was given great reviews on this doctor by a friend which is why I went there. I am very disappointed.

Dr. Hopkins is a First-Class Doctor who treats me with great professionalism and concern every visit.

I've been going to this practice for about 8 years now. While things haven't always been perfect, I've always been a fan of Dr. Hopkins. She's always been very professional while taking the time to talk to me as a person, not just a patient. I've had a few issues with lack of follow up from her nurses over the years and I'd wish they'd update their website so you can book an appointment online. I'd also like to login and pull my test results online. Having said that, I'd recommend Dr. Hopkins to others.
