Dr. Rhonda Jane Mattox, MD

Dr. Mattox got to the bottom of me being misdiagnosed for many years. I was literally at the point of making decisions about life and death. I met Dr. Mattox at a very crucial point in my life and she explained my misdiagnosis and got me on the right track with proper medication and counseling. My life is now so full of possibilities and positive moments that I thought were forever lost. Dr. Mattox moved approximately 45 minutes away after being relocated and I hit the freeway because I knew I was in good hands with her. She had my trust 100%. I was not letting her get away from me because I had never felt better since developing my disorder. Dr. Mattox literally saved my life. She’s empathetic, very caring, personable and honest. She knows her profession very well. I would recommend Dr. Mattox over any of the numerous Psychiatrists that I saw prior to meeting her. Meeting her made me feel like someone finally understands me! My light was so dim when we first me but now my light shines

I was on 8 medicines when I started seeing Dr. Mattox. She surprised me by taking me off one med at a time. She said that she some of my problems were not conditions but side effects. She said she wanted the side effects to work for me. Less than 6 months later, 2 medicines. Great mood without panic attacks and racing heart. Best of all-I have gone back to work.

Dr. Mattox is extremely compassionate. She takes the time to just simply listen. What an amazing feeling to be heard by your healthcare provider. She explains medications and treatments in a way that is understood and leaves one feeling empowered. Thank you!

I can think clearly and I am not tired all the time. I sleep when I’m supposed to. I can work now.

I was shaking like a leaf when I went to see Dr. M. I had been told that I had Parkinson’s disease and dementia by my family doc. Dr. M took a really good history and got lab work. She told me that in 6 months I would not recognize the woman that walked through that door. She tapered me off Wellbutrin, Paxil, and Effexor slowly and put me on lamictal. I lost weight, got my sex drive back and stopped shaking all the time. She said the side effects of the medicines had been working against me. I wanted to stop all of em cold turkey. She said you gone end up in the hospital. I tried to stop all at once and got sick as a dog. Ended up following her recommendations. She’s funny. When I told her shentold me Guess you didn’t believe fat meat was greasy. What does that mean anyway?

Dr. M knows people. She asked the right questions and figured out what was right with me first. She told me that I wasn't crazy. I was human and I was having a human response. She saw me not my diagnosis.

I saw her when she was in residency first. I had been to other clinics in the past so I kind of knew what to expect. Or not to expect. Within a few minutes, I could tell she was interested in me. I cried when I found out she was graduating. Then I found out where she was practicing and followed her there. She was surprised. When she moved out of state, I promise I would have followed her if I had the money to do it. Ji heard her voice on the radio and realized she was back in Arkansas. I found her again. When I saw her, I just wanted to throw my arms around her and hug her. She listens to me. She cares. And I truly love her. She gave me me back.

She spent 45 minutes with me and she wasn't checking her watch the whole time or rushing me out.

I can’t say enough about her. I had been misdiagnosed with depression and on a lot of medicine but I couldn’t sleep. She weaned me off them slowly and my sleep sweet sleep returned on just TWO medicines. Have my LIFE back. Didn’t know that I shouldn’t be on an antidepressant if I was bipolar. She changed my diagnosis, changed my meds, and changed my life. So grateful!!!
