Dr. Richard Alan Bloom, MD

Dr. Bloom is a Rochester native who graduated from Brighton High School in 1970. He spent the next ten years in Cleveland, Ohio at Case Western Reserve University, where he earned an undergraduate degree in biology in 1974. He had a unique opportunity to serve as the assistant to the University Vice President and Treasurer for 1½ years. He then entered the medical school and obtained his medical degree in l979. Dr. Bloom completed his internship and residency in pediatrics at the Children’s Memorial Hospital of Chicago, a division of the Northwestern University School of Graduate Medical Education. He continues to be active in the alumni affairs for Case Western Reserve University.

Dr. Bloom began practice in the Rochester area in 1982 at the Northeast Medical Group as part of Rochester General Hospital. He joined Fairport Pediatrics in 1985 and over the years has been active in the community as a school health physician for the city school district, a member of a children with …disabilities task force, and has taught family prenatal classes. Dr. Bloom has served on pediatric advisory committees to insurers and mentored high school students from Honeoye Falls, Pittsford, Victor, and Fairport school districts in the exploration of health care fields.

Dr. Bloom is a past president of the Rochester Pediatric Society and is a member of the University of Rochester department of pediatrics clinical faculty and is involved in medical student education. He is on the staff and attends older patients at Rochester General Hospital and Strong Memorial and newborns at Strong Memorial, Highland, Rochester General Hospitals, and Park Ridge.

Dr. Bloom lives in the Bushnell Basin area of Pittsford. He enjoys travel, gardening snorkeling, is a collector of antique American Indian artifacts, plays softball and has been a Rochester American hockey season ticket holder for over 20 years.
