Dr. Richard Scott Daarud, MD

Terrible!!!!!! 2 months ago I tried starting the process of trying to get a cardiology appointment. 1st Dr. Daarud was dismissive about my concerns about my hearts health and condition knowing that my daughter just had a heart transplant. He said I looked healthy and there was no need. I had to insist on a referral. It took a month to get the referral to the cardiologist from that office. I called numerous times for weeks to get it done, all while no one would even answer my calls, return my messages or even give me an update about the progress of a simple referral. After dealing with that head ache, they did not submit paper work to the insurance company until less than 24 hours before my appointment. Once submitted they submitted the wrong code. Well due to their lack of timing once again my schedule was cancelled and I had to reschedule. All while this is going on I'm able to communicate with the cardiologist, the insurance company but not Avista Family Medicine. They would not… answer their calls, would not call me back. Absolutely no communication. After day 2 since my appointment was cancelled, I had to physically go to they office for an hour and a half and have them send in the correct paperwork to ensure a cardiology appointment since they never called me back. When I expressed my concern to them they listened but seemed irritated with me and my concerns(2 months to just make an appointment mind you). She told me the supervisor Suzanne will call me and go over my concerns with how poorly things were handled. Surprise, surprise no call. It also concerns me their is no accountability in that office especially when the person helping me out says that "she should not even be doing this work because its not her job and she is only an assistant" I finally get into the cardiologist today. I have an irregular heart rhythm and will have to go into a procedure in which they put me to sleep to preform a heart Atrial Fibrilltion. From the beginning Dr. Daarud had been dismissive of my concerns. Barely looked at me and said I was healthy and there was no need to see a cardiologist. I had to insist on a referral. Took 1 month for the referral. Another month to submit correct paperwork. They have yet to contact me to this day. I now have to have a procedure that could have been avoided 2 months ago. I feel that people deserve better than this office provides. I have pretty low expectations but when an office can run with so little care, follow through and general respect for their patients and their concerns, they should not be in the medical field.

Great doctor, very nice and friendly, practical, direct, funny, competent, good bed side manner, trustworthy.

Dr. Daarud is a caring, thorough family physician.

Dr. Daarud has been our doctor since he started practicing in Boulder. He is spot on with his diagnoses and attentive and caring during our visits. I especially appreciate that he is not a "pill roller" and would prefer to treat with common sense homeopathic means if at all possible.

Dr. Daarud is absolutely great in his field; family medicine. He's charismatic, funny and makes you feel comfortable as a patient. If anyone in the Boulder area is in need of a primary-care physician, Dr. Daarud should be at the top of your list.
