Dr. Richard James Demasi, MD

Initially said he would put in a new type of fistula. Changed his mind and never notified me. I don’t think he looked at the vein mapping until my surgery and realized my vein could not support the new fistula. Surgery rescheduled, without any notice as well as the operation plan. I was notified day before surgery and had already taken off of work. A week later, had the surgery, fistula did not work the same day post-op Two nurses tried to hear blood movement . Nothing. Used a Doppler. Still nothing. He never came in to check on me and I was sent home. No follow up call. Weeks later, kidney specialist sends me back. Fistula doesn’t work. Now I have to have 2 more surgeries, to be told by Dr. Demasi this one might not work either. It’s just like that. With these things it’s not one and done. Rude, very cavalier, no compassion, or caring bedside manner. I don’t want him touching my arm ever again.

Although his staff is very professional, Dr. Demasi is very rude! I’m not sure if it was because we were not his “preferred clientele”, but it was obvious that he did not treat all of his patients and their families’ the same!

A skilled and personable surgeon... warm and supportive... took the time to deal holistically with oatient and accompanying family member..

We are in the process of fixing the stuff Demasi screwed up. I pray the new team can fix it all and save my sister. If we had money I'd sue for malpractice. Next best thing is to warn people. I don't know how he sleeps at night.

He looked at my legs, said he could run some tests and said they would call me once they could set up a time.He did say that he didn't think my problem was vascular and that I should look elsewhere. I haven't heard from them and it's been 1 1/2 months.
