Dr. Richard G. Fessler, MD, PhD

Dr. Fessler damaged the nerves going to my bowels and bladder, I now have to Cath twice a day and take MiraLAX twice a day for the rest of my life. I also developed dysautonomia, which has ruined my life. My spine surgery was three years ago and I am now going to Mayo clinic for treatment. Thanks doctor Fessler!

After "minimally invasive" lower back surgery by Fessler I have lost use of my bladder and bowel muscles. During the one post-op visit he hadn't even read the progress report from my physical therapist. Another doctor has reviewed my post-op MRI and stated that it looked like Fessler had started the surgery but hadn't finished. Oh, and the pain is back, find another neurosurgeon!

I was referred to him by colleague who had surgery at University of Chicago for disc prolapse.He is no nonsense kind of doctor and told me what to expect, I had surgery 3 weeks ago and I am truly blessed to have him as my surgeon., and am doing well.

Be warned before you have surgery with Dr. Fessler that if you have problems he will not see or talk to you outside of the assigned post surgery schedule. He will leave you fully in the care of his nurse. I required an additional 3rd surgery to fix both of his errors by a different neurosurgeon. He was too busy to answer my emails, or respond to my phone calls about intolerable pain levels, He placed a screw in my nerve canal and failed to follow up.

Dr Fessler and his staff are AMAZING. I was diagnosed with a herniated disc. Dr. Fessler and his staff were the best. Easy to speak to and very accommodating. Dr. Fessler is the best surgeon available. He is very comforting, kind and knowledgable. Hs approach help ease any concerns I had. His after care program and staff were equally helpful and kind. GREAT GREAT GREAT!

Dr. Fessler put me at ease from the time he walked into the office. Pain is gone and my life is 120% better. Everyone on his team and at Rush were amazing.

The minute I came out of surgery, the pain was gone. Soreness was there, but over about three months, I returned to nearly normal physical condition

Dr Fessler diagnosed a serious spinal cord issue within minutes of our first visit. He performed a c3 to c7 laminectomy and 12 weeks later I an a 5k. He is gifted and I am very thankful he was my surgeon

I was asked to have an updated MRI done for my first visit, after Dr Fessler viewed a previous MRI prior to that appointment. After spending all this money for new MRI's his nurse said he decided not to take my case. She said he that he had the right to make this decision. This was a very costly decision for me. I'm very disappointed in Rush and the staff!! The staff that I spoke with was very uncaring and this was such a disappointment when you're looking for help!
