Dr. Richard Adam Gutsin, DO

The first time I met with Dr. Gutsin, I was extremely impressed with his listening skills and the amount of time he spent with me. I figured this perhaps was how he meets new patients. I was wrong. He is always very attentive. He is very personable and compassionate. He treats me like an equal and does not force anything and he explains everything very well. He is patient and kind. His staff is the same way. They treat you like family. His office is very comfortable and they put you at ease. I have never had to wait long to be seen. He is the best primary doctor I have ever had here in Wilmington.

Dr G is a very nice man. I believe he may need an exam of his own though. The few visits I had with him and his staff were terrible. Upon my first visit I felt pressured by the staff for payment up front before I even seen the doctor. They are without a doubt the worst staff I've ever seen. Dr G, very attentive but lacks ability to keep a file accurate. I had to correct him each visit on my meds and dosage. To still get the wrong prescription at the pharmacy and not all the meds. If you're new to the area looking for a primary I suggest to pass on this office.

This is a special doctor's office. Dr Gutsin reminds me of an old fashioned doctor -- one who cares about patients, their families, their well being. He has gotten busier over the years, but everytime I am there, I still feel like he listens and helps. He has helped me to age gracefully. The staff is great too -- they are like family to me.

I have been seeing Dr. Gutsin since I came to Wilmington in 2011. He has a great sense of humor and treats me with respect and dignity. When I had a sudden very serious infection, his quick actions and diagnosis saved my life. After 50 years he helped me beat my addition to cigarettes. He was kind but assertive the whole time. He has helped me get my blood work down to normal levels, A1C, Lipids, etc. His staff has always been courteous and professional. I really do not understand the negative comments on this site, but I can only speak for my personal experience. Highly recommended.

I was put out of work and sent ton my primary care giver asap due to a new diagnosis of hypertension,I called the office around 7 that morning expecting to get a voice recording to my surprise Dr. Gutsin answered my call while driving to work and had me meet him there first thing Anyway Doctors like this are few and far between

I have been seeing Dr. Gutsin for many years and he is by far the best family practice physician I have ever had! He is compassionate and takes the time to get to know his patients.

This doctor is terrible! Every visit I come in and he expects me to know exactly what is wrong, isn't that his job? Any question I have for him he looks up on his phone. He doesnt listen to whats wrong with you nor does he know anything. When trying to get a referal to a specialist, forget about it! When calling to ask questions about referalls that where made the receptiononist give you attitudes saying they know what they are doing and that you are wrong. Stay away from this place! Anywhere is better than this place!!!

Extremely knowlegable and caring doctor. Staff was very helpful. I feel like I am in very capable hands. I was very impressed with the doctors follow up. I highly recommend Dr. Gutsin's office. I feel lucky to have found his office.

I don't think he is a BAD doctor, but he is so afraid of writing a prescription for something that is even CLOSE to being a controlled substance. You always have to wait a while to be seen - too long and he didn't even want to write for TRAMADOL, which apparently is sort of a controlled substance in scared states like NJ and NC. Living in NJ now and it's worse...there are so many abusing RX drugs that you have to have a history with ANY doctor in order to get pain meds or other controlled stuff. I do not, personally, think he is that great of a dr., but he started me on Seroquel, when Southcare was giving me Ritalin and Valium, Lithium and I don't know what else. Turns out it helped, but I honestly think he simply got lucky with that diagnosis (bipolar) as he knew the family history and I am fast, pushed speech Yankee. EVERYONE up here talks fast, I just happen to be hypom anic as well.

I would not advise anyone to see this Dr. His knowledge is incomplete and he is uncaring to his patients. I could say a lot more, but simply he is not a good doctor!
