Dr. Richard Louis Harper, MD

Dr. Harper is the most dismissive doctor I have ever encountered. I called to make an appointment but before they will schedule you, the DR. Has to review your MRI CD, to make sure there is a reason for his time, and I thought that was reasonable. The DR. Reviewed & his assistant called me to schedule an appt.. I get to the appt, he confirmed that I in fact do have chiari malformation 1, My symptoms give me reason But the MRI confirmed. In appt. the ONLY advise he gave me & I do mean the ONLY advise he gave me was “take 2 alleve in the morning & 2 in the evening for 6 months & then come back to see me”, I asked questions in reference to the information on my MRI report & he kept telling me to “stop self diagnosing” I said I’m asking you questions about what is written on my MRI, how is that self diagnosing, it’s in writing? I felt like, because I’m a woman of color, he did not want to bother with me, in other words medical racism does exist & Dr. Parker proved that fact for me.

Dr Harper and his team are excellent neurosurgeons. They removed my pituitary tumor and I was back to work in 4 days. I have had no problems or new tumor since they did their work. I would recommend Richard to anyone needing a neurosurgeon !!

He operated on two people, it was a miracle. One in 2000 and the other in 2009

Dr Harper is a no nonsense to the point get it done highly confident neurosurgeon. I had several spinal injections before seeing him. I had a L1-L5 bilateral laminectomy. I had immediate relief. I followed his post surgery regiment and have had no post surgery problems. I would highly recommend him to any one with back pain.

If you are looking for a friend then your in the wrong place, but if you are wanting a really good doctor then he is it. Absolutely no bedside manners, is very abrupt and to the point. I was pre warned so it didn’t bother me, I was looking for a great doctor, I have plenty of friends. I have spondylosis and couldn’t move withou severe pain. It took 20 minutes just to get out of bed. He operated on me about 6 or 7 years ago and I was pain free up until about 2 months ago. I am going back to see him and n a few weeks. I knew it wouldn’t last forever but sure got me out of a lot of pain for several years.

Dr. Harper comes quickly to the point but gives a cristal clear analyses after seeing four doctors who recommended back surgery, when I needed a hip replacement.

If you're looking for a fishing buddy, Dr Harper is probably not your guy, at least based upon his clinic face. But if you're looking for the consummate professional when it comes to spine surgery, I'd say there are none finer than and few equal to Dr Harper. I'm almost looking forward to his repairing the other end of my spine from the end he masterfully repaired 20-odd years ago. After rehab, I have had no issues at all with the repair. PS: I gave 5 stars for "spends time with me" because he spends all the time necessary with me for the business at hand, and that's why I am there. He's not much into chit chat, in my experience during 2 or 3 visits over the past 10 years, during which time he has advised me it is not yet time for surgery.

No more pain after 8 months of terrible pain and being on the strongest pain killers. Dr. Harper operated and now pain free!!!

Dr. Harper did great performance surgery on my back L-4 and L-5. No more pain at all I feel great after the surgery. It been almost one year so far. I recommend him 5 stars.
