Dr. Richard A Houston, DO

I was taken to SMH for labored breathing and chest pain. Upon having some tests completed I was advised I had pneumonia and I would need to be admitted. Upon my admission they ran a multitude of tests back to back and treated me for the diagnosed pneumonia. After a couple of days of breathing treatments and iv antibiotics. The pulmonary doctor advised he still had some concerns and my oxygen sat levels were low. The same day I asked to he Dr. Houston the admitting doctor to address the chest pain I was having and my normal meds I take at home were changened with out consulting me. Dr. Houston never came to se me he sent his PA assistant she had the worst bed side manner and refused to listen to any of my concerns. Especially the fact that the pain I was having felt like the pain when I had a previous PE. At 4:30pm the head nurse came to tell me to get ready as I was being discharged no further reason for me to stay in hospital. My oxygen sat levels were still low and I was… having bad pain when breathing. I asked why I was being discharged as the pulmonologist that saw me earlier was going to keep me at least one more day? The head nurse said the Dr. Houston made the decision to discharge me. I asked to have Dr. Houston come see me as he never came to see me that day but was basically sending me away still in very bad condition. Dr. Houston never came up but the transport people came up to take me down stairs. The transporter said it would be a little bit because no wheel chairs were available. I asked him.why was that? Such a big hospital and not enough wheel chairs? He kindly advised the the doctors discharge a large number of patients in the late afternoon causing a traffic jam of sorts.
