Dr. Richard Tehyuan Kim, DO

Described health concerns out of the ordinary related to hormones and stress. He immediately asked my BMI and then insinuated I was an obese hypochondriac who "searches things up on Google to impress the doctor". He also spent the entire telephone call he was LATE for rushing my answers and history. I do not trust his diagnosis, do not trust his professional opinion, and absolutely recommend avoiding this doctor if you can. It's extremely concerning when a doctor is late to their own appointment, especially when it's a phone call, and then rushes a patient while not listening and instead dismisses concerns in an effort to not need to perform additional follow up diagnostics.

A few years back Dr. Kim was my doctor, he seemed fine. He managed my needs fairly well for he most part. A few years later I came back to Kaiser AND excited to do so. As a chronic pain patient (elsewhere) I have to undergo ransom blood and urine tests-it’s part of the deal (more so now than before). A month ago I went in as my first time back, he looked me up in “the system” and I rated well “not as drug seeker or doctor shopper”.. we discussed many items, did a prostrate and colon exam etc and he referred me out to a specialist for other issues. He also wrote orders for blood and urine. The nurse asked if I wanted to do that on my next visit (I was more than willing as I shared with her my stomach was not feeling good after the anal-prostate exam). I travel and have had to reschedule the subsequent appointments. Anyway, a month later I called in for my pain medication (the same medication and amount I have been on for many years (including from he and Kaiser) and it was denied. I… am traveling and asked why, they arranged a phone appointment. Here’s the rub, the man treated me like a child. He began to lecture me about our conversation etc. (imagine the tone of authority) and I asked him to back up and slow down. I am a 53 year old, married business professional and expect the same respect I afford him (Dr. or not). I am the customer-no...? We went back and forth to which he got frustrated (probably because I wasn’t bowing to his Dr. authority) and he refused toevrn write me a bridge presxriorion for a week (to which my wife would have picked up st her 3:00 pm with Kaiser today). Nope! Just dropped like a rock. No empathy, understanding-nothing but atttitide. I am beyond disappointed in his treatment t of me, his professional demeanor (or lack there of) and quite frankly treating me with disdain. What am I supposed to do now that I am out of medicine and will be for about 2 weeks? Unreal...
