Dr. Richard Allen Macdonell, MD

I've been with MyMD for a couple of years now and I recently had a health issue that required me to go out on short term disability. I was able to get in very quickly for treatment. Dr. M and the team are very experienced and are not simply a primary care provider that is a revolving door. I'd rather have the option to see this team versus going to an ER or Urgent care facility. In a time of need they were certainly there for me. I'm in the medical field as well (but not a physician) and I can tell you that the practice is excellent.

To a time when the doctor-patient relationship went deeper than a transaction and a couple ICD-10 codes. I've been going to Dr. Richard MacDonell only this year but he is one of the best physicians I've ever been to, hands down. He costs more up front, but his business model makes sense; he's not overrun with patients so he can truly provide the care that each individual deserves. He talks to me with respect and I would consider him a friend. He has helped us navigated the most daunting of medical problems and had the compassion to discuss the emotional ramifications and stressors therein. He is particularly resourceful and will spend up to or more than an hour with you during a visit, he listens and validates your concerns and works with you through the issues and works out a plan on how to best move forward. He's very knowledgable and believes in education and the power of educating the patient, but he (unlike a lot of doctors) will admit when he doesn't know the answer or… when something is outside of his purview, he then helps you to get answers to the best of his ability. He has spent hours on the phone with us, day and night when the office is closed and has even called me while he was on vacation; his patient care is definitely a cut above. Dr Mac Donell was there for me. I was experiencing a little of a tight chest, like a cold, had a nonproductive cough so I went to Urgent Care hoping for a chest X-ray. I have to admit it was about 15 minutes to closing, but saw a PA who did no x-ray and prescribed a steroid and cough syrup. Next day feeling even worse I spoke with Dr Mac Donell who ordered an x-ray. We got the results and saw it was pneumonia. He then prescribed an antibiotic to help me on the road to recovery. I dont feel that my wife or i received six thousand dollars worth of care. The only thing different from seeing a doctor without a membership was getting an appointment. Even then, our appointment times changed constantly. We wont be returning for another year.

r. Macdonell his team are excellent. My exams are thorough, my questions are fully answered, with options discussed. I really appreciate the time given me. This is the way medicine should be practiced.
