Dr. Richard E Mcclain, DO

I had surgery on my left shoulder Oct. 29, 2018. I had a lot of pain following surgery and therapy for 6 months. Following surgery on my 6 weeks check up I explained to the doctor I still had a lot of pain and he gave me a shot for inflammation. I continued to have pain for the following 5 months. I called the office to make an appointment and I got another doctor for his number and found out I would have to see someone in their office because Dr. McClain moved on to another company. My new surgeon had to do surgery on my same shoulder because there was more problems with my shoulder and he had to repair all the stiches with the screws that Dr. McClain did. I would not recommend Dr. McClain to anyone for surgery of the shoulder.

I loved Dr.McClains personal knowledge of knee replacement. He’s had a partial knee replaced. He was very thorough in explaining the procedure and always took time, never rushing me out of the office. My right knee is 100% better then when I suffered from bone on bone arthritis. At times, my calf still swells a bit and I have bursitis now, but all in all he did a great job for me. I’m waiting to have my left knee done after my daughter’s wedding. He’s now at Great Lakes Orthopedics, but I will go there to have him treat me. I will NEVER go to SB Orthopedics. Felt like a number there and was over charged $600 plus dollars on my first and only consultation with them, before I was recommended to Dr. McClain. Took over a year to get that wrong billing straightened out. Never had an issue with billing or appointments with Dr. McClain while he was at Allied Bone and Joint.

A relative and myself have had surgeries by Dr. McClain and we both suffer from continuous pain and mobility problems. We feel that his lack of thoroughness during and after the surgeries has caused us unnecessary complications. Too bad he isn't half as good as he thinks he is.
