Dr. Richard David Murray, MD

My father went to see Dr Murray with a recent MRI showing a possible low-grade tumor, and an MRI from 6 years ago for comparison. Dr Murray said that although the newly discovered lesion couldn't be seen on the MRI from 6 years ago, its presence at that time couldn't be ruled out, because that MRI wasn't as high quality as the recent one. He said that the lesion is unlikely to be malignant and advised to wait 3 months and get another MRI. At the end of 3 months the next MRI showed it to have grown aggressively and also transitioned to high-grade. At this point we sought a second opinion from another neurosurgeon. He explained that the lesion was seen indenting the ventricle 3 months ago, whereas on the MRI from 6 years ago the ventricle was intact. Therefore 6 years ago the lesion either didn't exist or was smaller. Which in turn means that the need to further investigate the lesion was apparent 3 months before. Conclusion: avoid.

Dr.Murray far exceeded any expectations I had. He was friendly, professional and most of all calmed my fears regarding potential spinal cord surgery. He reviewed my MRI thoroughly and clearly. Discussed potential hazards to surgery, outlined objectives. Described the recovery process. All in all I was very impressed with approach to patient care. Felicitations.
