Dr. Richard Morales Ozuna, MD

During my initial consult with Dr. Ozuna, he ran 45 minutes late and his staff made no effort to warn me of his tardiness or to manage expectations. When he finally saw me, he was abrupt and dismissive. After taking the steriod pack he prescribed, there was no resolution to my pain so I ended up coming back to the practice for a follow-up consult where I was met with a very friendly medical assistant who worked with Dr. Ozuna. She prescibed my next steps which included an MRI and PT. It took Dr. Ozuna a month to call me with my MRI results. Thankfully my former spine doctor who is now retired interpreted my MRI results for me on the phone within 24 hours once I received them on the patient portal. Dr. Ozuna in his usual dismissive tone dumbed down the MRI findings to one sentence and rushed through my questions. You get the idea. This doctor has no bedside manner or empathy - totally disconnected from patients and will simply refer you out. I do not recommend this doctor.

I've had a good experience with Dr. Ozuna and his staff. I would have given 5 stars if I hadn't waited so long in the waiting room. I can keep busy with reading, however, if I had to get back to work or another appt, I wouldn't have been happy. With that being said, I would recommend Dr. Ozuna, he's thorough and professional. He's direct and to the point which perhaps doesn't work for many folks, but I'm not looking for pleasantries or a social interaction when I go on a doctor's appt, especially orthopedic. Just had back surgery last week with Dr Ozuna to repair L3,L4 and L5 I am very pleased with what he has done for me. I recommend anyone who is looking to have a great dr that can be reliable and understanding to you needs. The entire medical staff deserves a A+. Keep up the great job with helping patients in pain.

First, I waited two hours in the exam room and as a result, had to call out of work. He told me my problem was a weak core. I was abke to to a 2 minute plank and hundreds of pushups. He never did a gait eval, never did a balance test, and never read my history. All very basic parts to a proper exam. He was dismissive and argumentative. I got a second opion with a doc who did proper xrays, who was able to solve one issue because he did do a gait evaluation. Wound up getting hip surgery at BWH, after a much needed MRI. Can’t imagine what my life would be like now had I just strenghened my core. So glad I went elsewhere.

Office too busy for its own good

I must admit I almost didn't go here due to the reviews... but I did go and was pleasantly surprised... so far... I'm still a bit leery waiting for one of these horror stories to happen to me, but so far Dr. Ozuna has been very kind and answered my questions. After being misdiagnosed by another Dr, he ordered an MRI and also a liver panel to make sure I hadn't damaged my liver with the amount of Motrin and Aleve I take. If he didn't care, he wouldn't have done that and would've tossed a few prescriptions like Flexeril and Vicodin like the rest of the Dr's do and sent me on my way. Unlike some people I'd rather be fixed and spend the time finding out how to fix my neck than fist fight over pills that just mask the problem. So, if all you're doing is looking for a prescription, then no, he's not the Dr for you. Also, I am a woman and he has come off as very matter of fact and seems very laid back. He hasn't come off as arrogant at all or referred to me as "honey". I didn't have to list… off my symptoms either. I was impressed when he listed them off & was understanding about my level of discomfort. I will of course keep all of the reviews in mind, but I have faith in him!

I paid 1k to get abused and denied treatment. The staff acknowledged that the doctors in Peabody had "patient satisfaction issues".

Arrogant doctor who hates women. I was at his office in Peabody and he ridiculed my presentation to him, denied symptoms, sexually harassed me and called me "Honey". Told me, "You're not going to win your lawsuit, Honey". I have massive soft tissue injuries with neck instability and neurological deficits. Told me I was a "lax little girl" as he had me bend over in front of him. Never go to a doctor or hospital alone, especially if you are female. Stay away from narcissists like this from the Harvard system.

I trust Dr Ozuna to take care of me and go through all my options. He has done three successful surgeries on me, and I have decided to continue treatment with him as my spine continues to deteriorate because of my disc disease. I would highly recommend him!

I have been in total pain ever since Dr. Ozuna did my back surgery! I have had over 6 surgeries and never suffered pain after recovery as I have been suffering with, since Dr. Ozuna did my surgery 4 years ago. Now He sends me for shots? I was also lied to by Dr. Ozuna when I had asked if his office does knee replacements. "He said no!" Well' why would you advertise that you do them. "I thank god he is not doing mine after the botched surgery on my back." I do not recommend him at all unless you enjoy living in pain.
