Dr. Richard Petyn, MD

I decided to see Dr. Petyn nevertheless of different opinions and his ratings and I am so happy that I did. Dr. Petyn maybe is a little direct person like some other patients mentioned but in my opinion this is not important at all in a medical field because Dr. Petyn is a very knowledgeable doctor with a huge experience and for 100% knows what he is doing, how to give a correct diagnosis, how to treat and how to care for his patient. I am very impressed with the visit because Dr. Petyn was accurate and detailed oriented taking his time to conduct interview with me to find out my medical concerns and problems. If somebody wants to have a knowledgeable, professional and caring doctor not a phony smiling person Dr. Petyn is the right doctor! I would recommend him to anyone who wants properly to take care of hers/his health and wellbeing. Now, I feel very confident and safe that in the future if I will have any health problems I have a primary care doctor which I know will give the… proper diagnosis and treatment. Once you understand his methods, he is as thorough as they get. Highly recommend!

Dr Petyn is not friendly, seems uncaring, and neither talks nor listens much. All he does is refer you to a specialist and send you on your way. Six weeks ago, I had severe sciatica. (I still have it.) He would not talk to me or give me an appointment and has since totally ignored me. “Patient Abandonment” like this is unethical and a form of medical malpractice.

Rude almost to the point of hostility. He actually raised his voice to me. Unbelievable behavior from a physician.

Impolite and unfriendly. Does not care much about patients. I Had a severe case of sciatica and he would not see or talk to me for a month. Classic patient abandonment.

I'm mystified by the reviews I've seen here. Dr. Petyn has been my doctor and my wife's doctor for many years. He and his staff have always been helpful and responsive. Getting an appointment, a prescription refill over the phone, or a referral couldn't be any easier. He always greets me with a smile and a handshake and let's me know what's going on if I need to wait and see the nurse before I leave. I've had other primary care physicians before him and he is one of the best. This business about accents and not being able to understand him is all made up.

He would disappear, the nurse would come in. I never knew when the session was over. Quite abrupt. No feeling of agreement between doctor and patient. Talks down.

Could not schedule appointment after being seen in ER and had to return to ER to be seen by doctor. Not acceptable.
