Dr. Richard Eugene Saunders, DO

I am writing a complaint against Dr Richard Saunders at your St Joseph's Westgate location in Glendale, AZ. I took my wife there because she was in tremendous pain in her right side. This has been an ongoing problem for mo this as well as seizures and other issues. My wife has had her independence stripped from her and we have been trying to find out the cause of this for a long time. I brought my wife in to help her with her pain. I have to make her go because she hates hospitals and she hates having to be on meds to treat pain. The Dr instantly treated her like she was a drug seeker. He refused to give her anything that qpuod relieve her pain, anti inflammatories do nothing for her when her pain is this bad. She then proceeded to have one of her seizures. Now her seizures are not full grand mal and she presents differently with them. They have been confirmed by 2 neurologists and we are trying to find the cause of them. Dr Saunders said she was faking it. He shoved an NPG tube that… was way to big down her nose. She didnt react to it until her forced what was sticking out completely down. She was still seizing but was gagging some. He taunted her saying if she spoke he qpuod take it out. She moaned a bit like she usually does and he ripped it out of her nose and walked out saying nice try this isn't a real seizure. She was still in her episode when he did this! She came too a minute later and instantly started vomiting. She had no memory of the incident and was confused why her nose and throat were hurting so bad. She has never needed an airway during her seizures as she usually breathes ok while having them. She was crying because of the pain her head was in and was scared when I told her what happened. So scared she checked herself out even though she was in even more pain than when we came in. My wife has been struggling with this for months! She is incredibly tough and when she is in pain it is major pain! She is home depressed now and suffering but she refuses to seek help because she is terrified about what happened to her. Dr Saunders has made her feel like her health issues are just crazy and she feels like just "giving up." Dr Saunderw refused to check if his actions caused any physical damage but he definitely has caused a lot of mental and emotional damage to my wife. He needs to have his license revoked and you need to teach your Dr's to treat people as individuals as well as to have compassion and care for their patients. We went to this hospital because even in her pain my wife was worried about me getting sleep. The ones closest to is usually have really long wait times and she wanted to get seen quickly so I could get some rest before I started work. That is how amazing of a person my wife is, in her suffering she thinks of others first!
