Dr. Richard Alan Shapiro, MD

My recent visit to Dr. Richard A. Shapiro’s clinic was unfortunately memorable for the wrong reasons. Anticipating a routine medical consultation, I was instead met with a significant delay and a disheartening interaction that fell short of the professional standards expected in healthcare. Upon arriving punctually for my appointment, I was made to wait for over 40 minutes without any acknowledgement of the delay or updates on when I might be seen. This in itself was frustrating, but the situation took a more regrettable turn when the topic of the wait was broached with Dr. Shapiro. Instead of addressing the issue with understanding or apologies, Dr. Shapiro responded with visible annoyance and chose to decline the provision of medical services based on the discussion about the wait time. This experience was not only surprising but also quite unsettling, as it contradicts the compassionate and patient-centric approach that is the hallmark of medical practice. The refusal to provide… care over a concern raised about wait time is particularly concerning and not in line with the ethos of patient care and respect. I am sharing this feedback with the hope that it will be received as constructive criticism, highlighting the importance of empathy, communication, and professionalism in patient care. It is crucial for all patients to feel heard, respected, and cared for, especially in a medical setting.

Was referred by our pediatrician to evaluate our 3 years old son to Dr. Shapiro. Our son is very afraid from Doctors and was crying when doctor walked in. Doctor Shapiro made few comments to us why he is crying in not nice tone that made our son get even more nervous and scared. My husband took him to the waiting room so I can talk to the Doctor Shapiro. After he committed that finally my son is out from the room and that he doesn’t understand why he is crying. I tried to explain that he is scared and received another nasty comment that my son “is not normal and that he has issues”.After he though another comment that “why I can’t stop his crying?” Again I explained that I can not control his emotions and that he is scared.We did ultrasound at the same office and the ultrasound technician was so nice and professional talked to my son and he calmed down immediately and allowed to do ultrasound without any problem. After Doctor told us that he has hydrocelle and requires surgery and he… can perform it without any explanation.... I seriously don’t understand how pediatric urologist can be so rude and unprofessional to the little poor kid that is scared and is in discomfort. He didn’t even tried to talk to my son to make him more comfortable. On the top of this situation during pandemic time where Doctors supposed to be a role models to the community and encourage wearing a mask this Doctor was not wearing a mask. I come from medical family as well I have medical degree and this is not acceptable.

Have had many doctors over the years and Dr Shapiro is one of the best.!

The front office staff is awesome for such a busy office. However , Dr Shapiro needs to treat his patients better and his office manager Patricia should be fired for being so abrasive and rude.

Dr. Sharpiro is the best doctor I have ever been to, He explained in detail what I needed and did exactly what he said. Everything went great it is exactly what he told me. I would and will refer him and his office to everyone in need of a great doctor. He came to see me everyday in the hospital and called to check on me when I got home as a good friend or family would do.

Doctor was patient, kind and understanding. Going to a urologist or any doctor is difficult sometimes but he made me feel comfortable and at ease with my diagnosis and helped me tremendously. I would recommend Dr. Shapiro to anyone who needs an excellent urologist.

I felt that Dr Shapiro was very thorough. He diagnosed my condition and explained to me what we needed to do. He was very kind and intelligent and well informed. I felt well taken care of. He scheduled me for follow up. I was very pleased with my visit.

Promised to call with follow up never did! Care only to get paid for his services and very arrogant with patience.
