Dr. Richard Brian Sommerville, MD

Dr. Summerville is the ultimate compassionate and professional physician. Please note: I used the rare term on physician and not doctor or provider. Physicians are most difficult to find in today's medical environment. The neuro disease care he provided my wife was unequaled. Best in the Midwest and perhaps in the country.

Dr. Sommerville was able to administer two different neuropathy test; however, his explanation of each was very minimal. It took him over three weeks of me calling for him to return my call and let me know the results from my the 2nd test which was small fiber neuropathy. After leaving several message and speaking with the receptionist, I told her to send me the results and I would take them to another specialist. He finally returned my call only to tell me the results were abnormal and he did not know what caused the small fiber neuropathy or whether it would get worse. His interpretation was no more than reading what was sent to him. I am having my GP look at them and determine what blood work I need to determine what is causing the pain. I would NOT recommend this doctor. Extremely poor follow-up and interpretation of neuropathy results.

I waited on the phone over 20 minutes trying to book an appointment - still haven't gotten hold of anyone to book an appointment.

At first he seemed happy to help me. He ran some tests but nothing showed other than the same puzzle piece that another neurologist had found. He quickly gave up and I have found that there were many other tests he could have done to help find which genetic condition I have. He had a way of making me feel stupid and it was due to their incorrect charts! I feel let down for sure.

Medical receptionist never at her desk and dosent ever return phone calls.

I think Dr. Sommerville is an extremely caring doctor. He's on time, he listens, he wants to help and he cares. I wish there were more doctors like him. He's very friendly, and yet very professional. I would recommend him in a heart beat to anyone who needs a doctor in his specialty.

I've only seen him once so far. He's seems very intelligent, professional, and nice. I'm not sure that he has diagnosed my problem correctly yet. Waiting for test results. He answered all my questions so far. Receptionist very nice and helpful as well.
